The movie Paterson was surprisingly a great movie that makes the audience think

As I came home from work the other night, tired from working all day and fighting off a cold. I plopped on my couch and turned on Amazon prime to see if there was any new movies to watch. I notice the movie Paterson was available so I decided to give it a shot and glad I did, as I will explain below.

Our society has tricked many of us adults to believe once we fall into the daily routine of the typical 9-5 job, that our dreams are a thing of the past and that our job defies who we are. The movie Paterson gives a refreshing perspective on this belief many of us hold and challenges the viewer to gain the courage to not give up on their dream no matter how old they are. I really liked the message this movie gave.

With that said, I am aware people have different tastes for movies and may think this is a very boring movie that is not funny at all. However other people who like to analyze movies on a deeper level by identifying themes in movies and the meaning behind them, this is a great movie for you! There are many different themes in the movie one can have fun with analyzing and leads to a great discussion among family and friends afterward watching it.

With Adam Driver as the lead actor in Paterson, this is the type of role that brings out the best in his ability as an actor (unlike Star Wars where many people were disappointed in the character he played since it didn't feel authentic). His girlfriend is played by Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani, which was also refreshing as the movie didn't try to Americanize her. If you have not noticed it seems like most movies now a days have an Australian or English actor playing as an American character.

The movie is nothing flashy and the production seemed very simple. By simple, I mean there are no special effects or the movie trying too hard to go in many different directions to appease a wider range of people to like it.

Hopefully this will give you better insight on if this movie is for you or if you will pass on it for now. If anyone has seen the movie I would love to hear your thoughts about it in the comments.

Saw it. Good movie I agree!

Yup, though I think if it was 15 year old me I would not have liked it as much lol
