What if aloofness was the answer?
That deep sense of positive expectation of an intended outcome. Something that you didn't need to trouble yourself thinking about. A sense of nonchalance. Like it was always going to happen.
You don't question whether the sun will rise and set everyday.
You don't question whether there will be oxygen for you to inhale in your next breath.
And yet you find endless ways to question how and if you will:
- build that business
- secure that next client/customer
- meet next month's payroll
- run that 10k
- find a partner
- buy a home
- retire (ever)
- fill in your blank...
Rather than engage in that constant (negative, circular) mental chatter - what if we leaned into a sense of knowing that it will all be okay?
Relaxed and operating in the same confidence that it will just happen - this doesn't mean to abdicate responsibility and do nothing (and expect the desired outcome).
But equally, it does mean NOT to put 'the thing' front and centre.
Instead, to define the actions and timings that are within our control and to ignore negative thoughts. To avoid wasting time and energy 'fretting' about the rest.
To act as if the desired end outcome is a side-effect of doing the right things (in the right order). Not the main thing.
It's a radically different way to look at the world and how to act but I can only imagine it would lead to less stress, anxiety and unnecessary worry.
