More and more lately I've seen so many misinformed Americans screaming for gun control. Screaming for their government to take action about the shootings murders going on. I’ve even seen people asking for the government to banish firearms, and have the military step up and protect our citizens. I am of the group who honestly believe the reason we don’t have war coming to our front yard is because of armed America.
I posted on Twitter in regard to the recent shooting at the Florida school. In response to someone shouting for President Trump to take action and to have the military protect us. They're afraid to send their children to school.
I wrote
“Quit living in fear... Teach your children compassion and not to take things so personally and they would know how to properly deal with controversial issue without involving a firearm.”
In response Jeb Bush @Ronaldraygun84 wrote: “not every parant is gonna do that stupid solution”
and Nikki @nickivb replied “ exactly. The generation now is so DIFFERENT. Not to mention have you worked with a bunch of 9 year olds? They take EVERYTHING personal.”
I feel these are uneducated responses, and Nikki is working in a school somewhere educating 3 and 4th graders!?! Lets think about this! She is supposed to be an educator! She is supposed to be molding young children’s minds!! Yet she is saying that the problem is the children, it’s generational?!? This is the kind of irresponsible people that are handing our rights over without question. This is the mindset of the educators that are molding America’s future.
Guns have been a staple of America since its inception. Knowledge and education will prevail in these tough times! Stop asking expecting rather, the government to raise your children for you. Stand proud and take control of your own life. Take responsibility for your children. You are their parent not the teachers, the schools, or the government. You gave life to these young individuals, and you are ultimately responsible for teaching them about their world. If you choose to have firearms in your home, it is your duty to teach your children that they are both a tool and a weapon, and that they are to be respected as such. Unfortunately all to often parents are so busy hiding things from their children trying to protect them from the dangers in this world, that they stop them from learning how to cope with failure, loss, disappointment, disagreements etc. We need to be teaching our children, future leaders how to respect others, how to deal with problems in a civil manner. Teach them that it’s okay to disagree with others, because that is how we grow as a society. By combining different views we become stronger and more diverse more well rounded. We need to teach our children, and each other to be patient and to be civil, to be able to disagree peacefully.
I feel we are destined for greatness, but I don’t believe gun control is the answer. I feel the problem is that we’ve become a society driven by fear. Main stream media isn’t helping this, Social media is even worse, because now you have billions of under-educated people jumping to rash decisions. Most without the wherewithal to process the gravity of their instant judgement calls. People don’t realize they are blindly handing over their rights, power, and control by reacting to what the feel. We need to stop being driven by fear, we don’t really want gun control. We don’t need the military to keep us safe in our homes and our communities.
Lets get some cellphone (POTUS included) control, some distracted driving control, some hate control, even just some self control. If you don’t like what’s being said on the television or on social media don’t just irrationally give into the emotion you feel when you read, see or hear about something that you disagree with. Don’t perpetuate the hate. Just because you disagree with something doesn’t mean that it should be illegal. Learn to put yourself in other peoples shoes, think about if whatever it is, is truly that bad. Then if you still can’t deal with your emotions, just turn the channel or walk away. Whatever you do stop spreading fear and hate. Lets teach ourselves and our children to spread compassion and wisdom.
Lessons are learned, Wisdom is earned, and knowledge is power!
