Are you a cat person or dog person?
I am definitely a cat person just because my first pet was a cat and i have a wonderful connection between them. That doesn't mean i don't like dog, I love all animal especially those cute fluffy fur ones.
Cats, just like dogs, are one of the earliest friends of mankind. But when answering the question, "Are you a cat person?" the issue on who became the first man's friend between cats and dogs is inevitably emotive.
While dogs were domesticated over 16,000 years ago, cats only became friends with mankind around 9,000 years ago and are still semi-domesticated.
Pets are awesome and most of us love them because they bring life in our homes and living rooms. We therefore tend to develop traits akin to those of the pets we keep in our households. This is arguably due to our love for these animals.
What are cat person traits ?
Cat persons display the following characteristics that make them stand out:
ā¢ Higher intelligence and intellectual curiosity; cats are smarter than dogs, they can act fast and are more responsive.
ā¢ Non- conformist; a cat person is not very submissive and rarely follows orders and rules thereby depicting the independence portrayed in cats.
ā¢ Sensitive and introverted; most cat people are not outgoing although they are always open-minded and hold uncommon beliefs.
ā¢ Neurotic; most studies have shown that most cat people are more likely to be scared or frightened by things that are mostly unimportant. This is referred to as neurotic disorder.
What Are The Differences Between A Cat Person And A Dog Person ?
The following traits tend to distinguish the cat persons from the dog persons:
ā¢ Cat persons are scored to be less masculine than dog people. Therefore, more ladies will tend to brand themselves as cat people as opposed to men. Besides, it is sometimes depicted as improper for a man display cat people behavior.
ā¢ While dog persons are considered less hostile and extremely obedient, cat persons will not readily take orders and are seen to be more hostile and resistant.
ā¢ Dog people are extroverts and can live anywhere (in the city or upcountry) whereas cat people are less outgoing and more independent. Cat persons mostly keep to themselves.
ā¢ Cat persons will mostly be looking for affection and liking while dog people seek companionship.
Differences often-time make people stronger and more cohesive while at other times they create enmity and hostility. Therefore, it is true to state that cat people and dog people get along because their differences somehow complement each other. It is also true to say that these two kinds of people will not get along. For instance, a lady may conclude that since he does not like cats then that relationship is as good as dead.
Why Most People are Dog Persons ?
Most people across the world are dog persons because they possess more dominant and desirable traits than cat persons.
Taking an example of a work place, you would not want a high number of your staff to be introverts. This will kill productivity because you need people who can be part of a team and work together to deliver results.
Besides, in most societal structures we have leaders and subjects. Despite the fact that one is entitled to their own opinions, it is common norm to be obedient and submissive to our leaders as well as conform to the rules and orders. These are dog people.
Which Is More Awesome ?
Both dog people and cat people are awesome because they make interactions more beautiful.
One funny thing about being a cat person is that you will always be perceived as crazy. Although this may be a stereotype, cat lovers are mostly seen to be overly obsessed and thus branded as crazy.
There also the popular phrase that, " the cat will never eat your homework." This makes the cat look more modest and more disciplined.
The fact that there are distinct differences in traits and behavior, makes both the cat people and dog people awesome to have. For instance, a lady (mostly a cat person) who is more independent, might like a guy (dog person) who is masculine and social and build a solid relationship. Doesn't that sound awesome?
Therefore, Both cats and dogs are great and it does not matter what your affinity is, what is most important is your willingness to change and be a little more adaptive.

This is Hudson. He is Korean Jindo I found at the pound in Los Angeles beaten and hurt. He is the happiest dog on the planet now lol.
and this is Dublin. She only responds to kitty though because she just has to be a princess about freaking everything.

I'm not a cat person or dog person, but I'm a Husky person. A Siberian Husky is the best pet period.
I think all of us are husky people. They are the cutest !!!. I had one when i was in my teen years. She was super lovely but Thailand's climate is too warm for these kind of dogs.
I find a look of Im hungry or I want to play is the same in either animal .

Great post. I love both cats and dogs. I have 2 cats now and they are truly part of the family.

I'm with dogs more then cats, although I don't have pets at the moment because my two boys are high enough maintenance without adding to the madhouse -_-

I'm a dog person! Other than these two, I like furry animals like you too. I used to have a panda patterned guinea pig. And a very furry brown one. And back in my hometown, i have three dogs! A shittzu, mini schnauzer and a toy poodle. :D
Can you cuddle them ?
Haha, well... I use to put my guinea pigs on my chest. But this fellas are a little small to cuddle.

Used to be a cat person all my life. Then i I saw how loyal and cheerful dogs are, and how unselfish they are in every sense. They always give us more than we deserve. I'm going to get a couple of labs and Golden retrievers one day. Was a cat person growing up, totally a dog person now!
