Bakrid falls on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah. On the day, Muslims visit mosques and offer prayers.
Muslims across the world will be celebrating Bakra Eid today it is also known as Id-ul-Zuha or Eid al-Adha, it is one of the two prominent festivals observed by the Muslim community. The festival commemorates the Prophet Ibrahim's readiness to sacrifice his son on being commanded by God. But at the last moment, moved by his obedience, God told him not to kill his son and gave him a goat instead.

Food is an integral part of the celebrations, Just like any other festival. Mutton preparations are the highlight of the day along with sweets like kheer and sevaiyan. Eid al-Adha marks the final day of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage Muslims undertake to Makkah once in a lifetime. Hence, Muslims observe this Eid for three days. All central government administrative offices will remain closed on August 23, 2018. Jama Masjid in Delhi declared that Bakrid 2018 will be celebrated on August 23rd 2018, instead of August 22nd 2018.
