If you haven't heard of mochi, I BET you have...

Just think of the mochi ice cream that has taken the world by storm

  • soft chewy pillows that often contain a sweet treat (like ice cream) inside...
  • traditionally made by pounding steamed glutinous rice

  • popular meal among samurai

  • Now associated with good fortune and happy marriages

  • and is an essential part of new year's celebrations in Japan

For something so innocently sweet,

How on EARTH could it be dangerous?

Let's find out.

Come pound mochi with the world's fastest mochi maker in Japan...

Just don't forget to keep your hands out of the way.

Awesome! Thanks! I gotta say that I'm a fan of the mochi ice cream!

Love mochi ice cream, a bit hard to find around here. That video is wild.

thanks @janamclaughlin! I'm now following you by the way! They opened up a Trader Joe's near me, and they have pretty inexpensive yummy mochi ice cream (mango, green tea, chocolate, strawbery flavors)!

Oooh...Anything with glutinous rice, I love a lot! Nice post! :)

thanks @shellany! (Following you too!)
Yah - so yummy!! The things people can make with glutinous rice!! (Especially in Asia!)

Where can you typically buy it?

@Nealwalters - I found mochi ice cream at Trader Joe's (they opened up near me). Believe it or not, Costco, regular supermarkets (most likely in the asian section).
