Colonizing the stars is the ultimate human endeavor that really matters.

What really matters? Well the expected answers to this question can only based on opinions with one exemption. Survival of the human race. Before you where born you had a survival instinct. Before you had a soul you had a survival instinct. Before you learned to love or hate you had a survival instinct. It's the first and default instinct of life generally. I believe humanity's survival matters to everyone and everything and humans long term goal should be to protect and continue life.

The universe is unimaginably vast. Some argue it could be infinite. The scary thing is that with all the vastness of the universe the only place we know has life is earth. Well, there's is a big chance that apart from earth the universe is beaming with life although we haven't found it yet. THERE COULD BE LIFE IN OTHER PLANETS. Pause for a minute and just think about this. Discovery of life in another planet in any star systems in the universe would have profound impact on us.
Our thinking about a lot of things would change. OUR PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE WOULD GET A QUANTUM LEAP. A LOT WOULD CHANGE.

It's a lot harder to explain how our thinking would change exactly but the thought of knowing that such an outcome is possible changed my perspective on life completely. I mean, WHAT ARE WE DOING ON EARTH? I can answer that. Just living and solving problems that arise in the course of our lives. That's it, and I find it very depressing.
Is that all we can do with the remarkable intelligence we poses. Probably, the animals look at us and they are like, " What are you doing? get yourselves a hobby"

"We have problems on earth that we need to solve" what any policy maker or even regular citizens believe. I mean, yeah problem solving is good for a better life but then what? So what? you know!.

We need to solve world problems yes but we need to do this with a clear goal in mind. Our ultimate mission should be to colonize the universe so we can make sure even if something catastrophic happens to our MOTHERLAND, the survival of EARTH LIFE is safeguarded.

We should find a way to excite the world about this topic to garner support in expansion and advancement of space technology. Spacex and other organizations are doing it but more is needed. Let's build starships, let's teraform planets, let's make space our space. Starting with mars and the solar system.

It's the most exciting thing and it's very possible. Seriously!

Furthermore, colonizing the starts sounds like a cool hobby for humans in general.!

Sort:

We have a lot of problems to solve before we decide to send humans on interplanetary, or intergalactic travels. Radiation is a huge concern and a materials science issue at the moment.

I worked in aerospace and I saw how this is a problem first hand. I would feel much more confident if we advanced our technology enough, which includes materials science and novel methods of radiation blocking first before travel.

In that way we can protect humans and equipment from possible damage.

Yeah sure. We need to figure out a lot of technological challenges first before embanking on interstellar travel. That calls for more investments and research in space technology. This is should be our first order of business on our long term mission to colonize space. Artificial gravity, close to light speed travel, radiation as you've stated, space travel preparation procedures, health in space all this are challenges we need to deal with. May take some time but as long as it can be done, nothing should hold us back.
