My motto

Today I want to share my personal life motto with you.

This life motto has many meanings for me. I first got introduced to it while reading Rich dad Poor dad - Robbert Kiyosaki The moment he asks his grandmother; ´what during you life did you regret the most?´ She answers that she made many choices for the family and not enough choices for herself. She will have to live with the choices she made without ever knowing how it could have gone different.

After watching elderly sharing their knowledge about life, you will notice that the biggest regret they have, are the decisions that hey didn´t took or waited to long with.

Different paths
Most people are risk avers. They are afraid of choosing for the risky path. Examples of risky paths are:

  • The dream of moving to another country;
  • Investing your saving instead of receiving your banks interest;
  • Start your own business;
  • Backpacking;
  • Moving towards another country for love;
  • Changing your boring job.

Excuses
The risk avers people give the following excuses:

  • Isn´t it to late?
  • I can do that later aswell
  • I am happy enough
  • My parents and friends told me it is not the best decision
  • It is to hard

Risk and reward
Risk and reward are very much related. Risk also means the path might be disappointing. When that is the case, at least you don´t have to wonder the rest of your life what could have happened. I personally try to review every choice that I made. That when I fail, I see it as a learning opportunity. Most of the above situations passed by on my life. Until now I am able to have no regrets regarding the choices that I have made.

Conclusion
Make sure you make the most of your time on this earth. Try to learn everyday and take risks when they come on your path. If it does not work out, try to learn from it. Wisdom comes with time and the more you fail the better you get at it. You can only understand this when you tried it.
