The Field of Consciousness

in #life3 days ago

Recently @por500bolos embedded a video about the work of Dr. Michael Levin in a reply to my last post. I have since watched several videos in which Levin discusses his work, which began by observing bioelectrical intercellular communication, and progressed to interfering in that communication and discovering means of controlling the processes cells undertake.

Levin created blobs of embryonic frog skin cells, and observed them not only move of their own volition, but, when free skin cells were added to the media, collect them and reproduce by making new blobs out of them. He called these blobs of skin cells xenobots, taking xeno from the genus name of the frog species he experimented with. He did not add other types of cells to these blobs. They were only skin cells. There were no neurons, no muscles, none of the tissues or organs complete organisms possess, making their movements and activities inexplicable.

Dr. Levin used ions to interact through the channels the cells he was studying used to generate bioelectrical signals, and by this means was able to interfere with those signals, eventually successfully causing a frog to regenerate an amputated limb. Frogs, unlike starfish or planaria flatworms, do not regenerate limbs. He was also able to interfere with planaria that had their tail and head cut off, which ordinarily would regenerate a head and tail, restoring the planarian body to it's original physiology. This regenerative ability is well known in planaria. By carefully interfering with the bioelectrical signaling in the regenerating worms, he was able to direct them to produce two heads, or two tails, rather than restore their original physiology.

In a surprising twist, when these two headed planaria had their heads amputated, they grew them back - both of them - rather than reverting to the original planarian physiology. What he was able to learn from this bioelectrical interference and the control he was able to exert was that consciousness does not arise in brains. Other research has established this, demonstrating that single celled creatures, that cannot have neuronal networks of brain cells because they are single cells, can learn and make conscious decisions. Levin's observations of the bioelectrical signaling and regeneration he was able to instruct cells to undertake was that all living cells participate in consciousness, that consciousness is a collective event in which all the cells of the body - at least - participate.

Further, consciousness is able to make granular changes to the physical state of the organism. He provides the example of voluntary motion, in which the action potential in many cells changes dramatically because we will ourselves into motion. We do not have to consciously choose each cell and what signal to send that cell, we have templates of signaling that simply are applied when we decide to act. He noted that the frog similarly proceeded to grow a normal leg, and then stopped. He didn't need to send a signal for each cell added to the leg, where it should be included, or any signal to stop the process when the leg was complete. The consciousness of which the frog cells were part knew all that and handled those details itself, just like when we decide to move.

Other studies have shown our gut fauna participate in our conscious decisions, for instance causing us to crave particular foods. Not only is our perception of our mind as singular deceptive, because our consciousness is a collective of all our cells, but that collective also includes other species that reside in the ecosystem that is our body. There have been other researchers that have claimed to show that there is interaction between species, such as plants and insects, in a variety of ways. Levin's research demonstrates that consciousness, whatever field or energy it actually is, is a collective undertaking by trillions of cells, not only something that happens in brains, and other research has shown that collective isn't only restricted to the cells of a single species, that actually may not only include other species residing in or on our body, but might well extend beyond it.

Notwithstanding the remarkable medical potential Dr. Levin's research reveals, I have been considering these wider implications regarding consciousness that arose from his research. With such thoughts furiously pummeling the back of my mind I ran across a video regarding Dr. Jacobo Grinsberg and the research he conducted into the nature of human consciousness in the late 80s and early 90s in Mexico. He showed that after allowing two subjects to gain a sense of connection from simply relaxing in a room together, that connection continued to be felt even when they were separated in rooms shielded by faraday cages, isolated from external sounds, light, or any information. When one of the subjects was then stimulated by flashing lights, he could measure their brain response to the flashes of light. When he measured the other subject, despite them being completely isolated and in complete darkness, their brain also responded in perfect synchrony with the flashes of light the other subject was exposed to. This demonstrated that the consciousness of the subjects was actually connected, not merely some feeling, or social response to being near someone, and that consciousness wasn't any form of electromagnetic field, nor involved sound, light, or any form of energy we can test for.

Grinsberg later studied a faith healer, who performed psychic surgery, and claimed to have achieved an insight regarding consciousness from researching the faith healer that tied into his research that he would publish soon. He disappeared just before his birthday, along with his research and equipment, and he has not been heard from again. We do not have the benefit of his conclusions from that research (regardless of why he disappeared, and whether or not he was murdered).

Despite the typically sensationalist tenor of that video, Grinsberg is in accord with Levin, and other research I have read regarding the nature of consciousness (although Grinsberg was focused on the brain, he noted the interpersonal connection of consciousness consistent with other research into collective consciousness). I have interest in this matter because I have experienced aspects of consciousness that seem to support these conclusions, that were significant to me.

The question of what exactly consciousness is remains completely unanswered. Grinsberg's research demonstrates it isn't EMF, and I have noted it cannot be EMF or our myriad electrical and electronic devices would have significantly impacted consciousness noticeably. There are such a wide variety of them doing so many things to the EMF fields locally, some of them would have impacted consciousness significantly were it electromagnetic energy. Given our research into physics, physiology, biology, chemistry, and everything else, that we yet haven't the slightest clue what consciousness is or where it comes from is surprising. It's operation by our will to control our physical bodies remains mysterious. How we dance, so precisely and artfully posture at will, isn't merely bioelectrical signals applying templates of movement.

Levin's and Grinsberg's research both are somewhat basic, not requiring novel equipment or extraordinary expense to undertake. Either could have been technically possible a century ago, or more, yet this research is novel today - or appears to be. Levin's particularly largely disproves that genetic engineering is the mechanism by which we can affect many illnesses and improve our quality of life. Perhaps there has been far greater understanding of consciousness gained through research that has been conducted covertly. Certainly these aspects of our interconnection would be of significant value to spooks in every jurisdiction, and offer far more powerful utility than staring at goats.

In fact I suspect this is so, but that there are reasons such aspects of consciousness aren't useful to spooks and banksters. Very good reasons. Those good reasons are also why we aren't informed about the nature of consciousness, because good people can make good use of consciousness for these very good reasons, but evil psychopaths cannot.

All of us can demonstrate that our minds, our will alone, can cause physical changes instantly in our bodies, just by willing our limbs or lips to move. Levin's research shows that consciousness can do much more, such as regrow missing limbs, and cure cancer... Oh, I didn't mention that, but Levin noted that cancer cells were disconnected from the intercellular bioelectrical communication, and simply acted on their own initiative to grow indefinitely without that community feedback (much like psychopaths, whom are incapable of proper socialization). He demonstrated a method to restore that interconnection, and cancer cells ceased their rogue activities. Cancer stopped growing.

I doubt that curing cancer and communing with nature are the limits of this intercellular communication consciousness is shown to effect. Grinsberg's research into the faith healer suggests that much more is potential - even though we lack the specifics of that research and his conclusions. People have been claimed to perform miracles throughout history, and I'm sure deep into prehistory as well. We now have cause to understand how such are possible, even if we haven't well characterized the mechanism by which they can be performed.

Something of a miracle, that requires nothing miraculous, however, is for our shared sense of right and wrong, our innate understanding of common, natural law, to be ubiquitously applied to our polities, in all the jurisdictions we live in. I see intolerable fraud, tyranny, and horrific crimes against humanity being inflicted on our good people across the world. The political institutions that are supposed to protect us instead being used to inflict evil on us. Our complete agreement that murdering children, harvesting their organs, and raping them in chains is utterly intolerable can be shared ubiquitously. Grinsberg's experiments showed that interconnection is potential and a communal will can be created and acted on. We've all felt the psychic pressure of a mob, at concerts, in clubs, at demonstrations, in classes, and at church.

We can harness that common mutual understanding of right and wrong to come together to oppose evil. We have seen it just happen, in the US Congress, where scandalous politicians whose incessant mutual opposition is notorious, have just voted 472 - 1 to release the Epstein files, and in the Senate the decision was unanimous. If those scabrous scalawags can all agree, how could we not? I believe we have the power to agree on basic matters of common law and right and wrong about genocide, war, and theft by fraud. All of us do agree viscerally these things are evil and must be stopped - or at least the vast majority of us do - and we can act in communion together to put an end to the slaughter going on in Gaza, in the Sudan, in the Ukraine, Syria, Libya, Nigeria, Chicago, and across the world. We can all agree that being tracked and surveilled by spooks to rob us of our freedom is wrong, and that imposing restrictions on our use of our property, our money, and our bodies is intolerable, and we can immediately stop it. I suspect non-psychopaths confronted with the immense psychic pressure of a mob all in agreement would be hard pressed to refrain from joining in. We are social animals, and our innate perception and agreement regarding common, natural law suggests such social interconnection is inherent to us.

We, the people, have the power to act together, as a community, by virtue of our interconnected consciousness, as one, to oppose evil and impose justice by the force of our will. I believe that, and believe the facts related herein show that. We have been deranged, indoctrinated from birth, into learned helplessness, confusion about taxes, foreign nations, and all manner of policies, but we can all agree on simple, ubiquitously understood, matters like murdering children, murdering people, starving, raping, and robbing people is wrong. We can all oppose together, sharing a sense of community with the victims, and with one another, the evil psychopaths committing those crimes, lying, deceiving, and concealing their evil deeds, and we can act in agreement together to seize the offices where such deceptions are concocted, published, and promulgated. We can install good people with good intentions in those offices to do good, and simply eliminate offices without capacity to do any good, whose only purpose is evil, to harm us. We don't need to follow written guidelines. We don't need to wait 72 hours, or signal two seconds ahead of turning, or obey any officials with badges, when we, the people, act together to end the murderous madness being imposed on us by evil bastards.

We only need to feel our connection to each other, to be a people, regardless of whether we're black or white, college edumacated or hillbillies, because all of us feel right and wrong in our bones, the common, natural law, what is just and we intend. We can do this as an outraged mob, and history shows we have, over and over. Outraged mobs get out of hand, though, and commit atrocities, as in the 17th Century when the Dutch had enough, rose up en masse, and killed and ate their evil Prime Minister. It's things like that, that give me the sense we shouldn't wait until we're so angry and outraged we act out of sheer emotional overload. We can act together, as a people, reasonably too.

That is what we need to do, and all we need to do is agree on simple truths, justice, and our sovereignty. We can end the scams robbing us, end the Fed, end the surveillance, end property, income, and inheritance tax, eliminate corruption and admiralty courts, and restore common law and freedom to our people. We can do that together, because we all agree that our property is ours, and the king can't rent it to us. We agree we are free and corporations don't own us, don't own our data, and can't lawfully use it to harm us. We all agree that honest commerce is what we intend, and slimy inflation of debt based money is a trick of the devil to steal the value of our money, and is a crime. These simple truths and justice can be agreed on by immense masses of people because we all believe them. We feel them in our guts and in our bones. We can act to impose each and all of them as we, the people, that own this planet, our lands, and our governments - and we don't have to be completely emotionally overwhelmed to do it, but can consider with care how we implement this massive communal consciousness together to do good (and not to descend into cannibalism, torture, or cruel vengeance), but simply to end the madness and restore just, lawful civil society that our forebears intended, and we intend to pass on to our posterity.

I do wonder if this interconnectedness is global and universal. Before I dive into that, my compliments to your clear and well written explanation of these notions.

When I was dating my ex, before I met the woman whonis now my wife, we were often separated by hundreds of kilometres (perhaps even miles), but we both spoke of something we could only describe as a tug of connection. Even as I write this, I feel that tether of memory, or something I cannot describe pull gently to the North East. Meanwhile, my wife sits to my right, and theres no doubt aboit the connectedness of that particular conciousness.

I have felt the same thing for my close friends, and as (a programmatic man of science) - I've always been thoroughly fascinated by this "otherworldy" function of my mind and body.

As I've started to focus less and less on the worries of consumption and consumerism, and value my interpersonal relationships far more - I get the impression that were all just silia in a greater lung of being. The universe we each experience is indeed entirely connected, and at the risk of sounding a tad mystical and unlearned, my current state of general happiness and health allows me to see what I can only describe not as consequence, but a resonance of my actions.

I've started to change my tune on determinism (as I held the position that free will was impossible previously) and now hold myself closer to the delusion that perhaps we do indeed all have agency, or at the very least, limited enough agency to know that our own actions impact the actions and reactions of others.

Thank you again for an incredibly thought provoking post.

"...at the risk of sounding a tad mystical and unlearned..."

I am happy I am not the only one that has taken that risk regarding this matter, then. AFAIK, we are indeed utterly nescient as to the make and model of consciousness, as it were. None of us can be learned much about it. To come to any understanding we must speculate, and thereby devise means of testing to ascertain whether our speculations have merit. With but thin knowledge, our speculations must necessarily be some wild, some sensible, that we will only know which is which after testing.

Regarding free will, I note we are of limited knowledge of ourselves, the world, and our future in particular. Whether or not God or gods know our fate, we do not. Therefore when we make a choice to turn left or right, to set forth or remain idle, we cannot know what the consequences may be. We must then have agency, must decide ourselves what act suits us, by such as we guess is best. I don't reckon God's knowledge of my actions, whether that is or isn't omniscient, much matters to me, whom must make the decisions, because I am neither God nor god. AFAICT, I have free will as a meatsicle, and that is all I am capable of as a meatsicle. I expect both determinism and free will are operant, but I am only capable of agency, not certainty.

It is great you not only experience such community, but know you do, as I have muddled such understanding with my attempts at reason, and my substantial lack of knowledge necessary to rational understanding. I have felt such community, but have been poorly able to understand what it was, or even to know it was, at times mistaking some fever or variety of lust or yearning for it. My new understanding takes on such significance to me because I have lately lived by my gut feeling that goodwill of good people was far more valuable than any possessions, particularly of financial assets. I feel as if I've pierced a veil, or passed through a clinal boundary of understanding of our human condition as a result, and reckon I better not fuck it up and do me and mine injury despite better understanding. Lucky guesses aren't often serial, while scientific understanding builds a scaffold of knowledge that enables wisdom.

I am fortunate to have been able to produce such a wall of text that yet is appreciable by such thoughtful men as yourself. I was loathe to post it as impenetrable bloviation would produce nothing of value. I did so because I see our present exigency, and that the proper course we must embark on must restore good society or leave innumerable dead and unimaginable suffering in our wake. That future I loathe far more than some well earned derision for excessive verbosity (which I am accustomed to anyway). Having recently experienced the good effects of goodwill, I sought to provide a foundation folks could base some confidence in the power of community to effect necessary reformation on.

Resonance is a good word for the affect of our contribution to consciousness.

Thanks!

Dear @valued-customer !
I thought your excellent and extensive English would be difficult for the average American to understand!

By the way, I'm a fool who always enjoys reckless and dangerous challenges, so I want to ask you!

Are you claiming that cells that lose contact with other cells become cancerous?
Are you saying that cancer cells that are connected to other cells stop proliferating and transform into normal cells?

Your argument is amazing!

I hope you don't get disappointed when an American elementary school student doesn't understand your English!😂

Thank you for advice!

"Are you claiming that cells that lose contact with other cells become cancerous?
Are you saying that cancer cells that are connected to other cells stop proliferating and transform into normal cells?"

I haven't seen the research, but merely parrot statements Levin made, accompanied by pics purporting to show cancer cells behaving nominally within the cellular collective our bodies are. While I did not see or read any claim that the faults that occurred in the structure of cancer cells were the cause of their disassociation with the bioelectrical network communication, that is my reasoned assumption. Levin pointed out that severing that communal connection left cancer cells alone, solitary and seeking that communion cells (non-cancerous cells) are ubiquitously part, and by proliferating rapidly a community of cancerous cells is created, or should be created, per the normal course of life.

By restoring intercellular communication the cancer cells, despite being physically flawed, were restrained by the presence of the community from departing from the body plan that community produced. Their desperate proliferation was not necessary to create the community cells must have, must be part of to fulfill their ordinary purpose.*

Similarly people that have been physically harmed, that can no longer readily communicate with their fellows, particularly those that have been neurologically injured and so rendered incommunicado sometimes act unsociably. Those that maintain normal socialization despite not being neurotypical generally are able to live in relatively normal homes, although they may require nursing or other assistance maintaining nominal living conditions. But few so injured simply continually act in socially unacceptable ways, and so must be necessarily confined in facilities where suitable security is present to prevent them from harming themselves or others.

However, where we form a sense of community, when we feel the presence of our fellows viscerally, there is a shared state of mind, whether trance or mob, a distinct alteration of our social communion is experienced. When we do so from mutual entrainment into trance through music, through the speech of a presenter, or some similar shared deliberate experience, the outgrowth of such state is potentially very positive, even if only fond memories of the music, or of the sharing of the philosophies of the speaker. If we are reacting angrily to some atrocity, and those around us are too, we can form into spontaneous mobs that can take actions in that mob mentality we would never take outside that state and not encouraged by the rage of our fellows, such as eating the liver of a tyrant. By entraining together into a shared sense of community and delivered a beneficial purpose, such as restoring the lawful operation of offices of government that has been committing unacceptable acts, the power of our society can immediately reform tyrannical institutions without having to commit violence.

There are many aspects of modern governance across both East and West that are utterly contrary to natural, common law that we are inherently designed to respect and impose as members of natural human society, that are contrived by cunning deceivers without conscience, narcissists, like cancer cells, incapable of that communal socialization and that therefore seek to proliferate their own wealth, blind to the value of the goodwill of our good fellows. Our restoration of good people to offices narcissistic psychopaths have slithered into by deliberate machination to profit themselves can be done gently but firmly, and solve the problem such cancerous societal influences cause. However, such psychopaths often order minions and thugs to prevent their power from being stripped from them, and then the people need to forcibly restore their control over their government.

No one, nor anything, has any right to rule sovereign people but themselves and their God. There is no divine right to enslave others. Might does not make right. Only psychopaths that do not see others as peers, as people equal to themselves, seek to rule others and render them to subjugation. Such a state is unnatural and unlawful, as we are made sovereign by our creator, whom designs each and everyone of us the sole authority over our will, alone we are able to think, speak, and will our limbs into action. No man nor men has been provided any authority over our will, and simply deceiving us, or brutally threatening us with violence should we refuse, are both crimes against us, and neither lawful nor tolerable to free society.

All polities today are such crimes, extorting free people and deceiving them to enslave and parasitize them. That must end, because such psychopaths have openly stated they intend to genocide humanity and steal everything we rightfully have been given by our creator. This necessitates our lawful action to restore our governments to just and lawful states, to prevent the utter horror and global genocide madmen are plotting. I am confident we are availed the power to prevent that crime by our creator, and therefore are obligated to do so or to be guilty of aiding and abetting our would be murderers. Righteous men and women must seek to restore lawful and just government, and deliver their lawful world to their posterity whole and wholesome as it was made for us, or become criminals.

Thanks!

*Edit: thus, while the cancer cells do not become normal, as they are physically damaged, and simply being in communication with their fellows does not fix that damage, they no longer proliferate and cause the cancerous growth that causes disease and death. Usually the communal consciousness ends the suffering of such broken cells through apoptosis, and the normal course of cells is to be produced, contribute for a span of time, and then perish to be replaced. Our organs are typically completely replaced during our lifetimes by this process, perhaps several times. As we age we are programmed to senesce, and for the entire body to follow the course of individual cells, to die and be replaced by the next generation. This property of death enables species to more rapidly evolve and adapt to changing environments. It was not something that was inherent to living things, but was adopted to enable better adaptation.

This means that death is not something that living itself is the cause of. I believe that by interacting with the communal consciousness of our cells, just as Levin demonstrated regeneration of limbs in frogs, the senescence unto death of creatures can be avoided. Not by drinking blood of virgins, as Peter Thiel believes will keep him young, nor by the granular micromanagement of the myriad processes that senesce and cause us to age unto death, as the present state of understanding of medicine and genetics requires, but by changing the intercellular communications that causes cells to senesce per that evolved adaptation mechanism.

When we cast off the surly bonds of Earth and explode out and across the void to the innumerable new loci for humanity to colonize and adapt to our preferences, we will adapt the barren universe to our needs. We will not, like dumb animals, need to die and allow a new generation to take our place in order to adapt to a changing environment. It is all but impossible to imagine adapting us to live in space, and without our ability to adapt our environment to suit us, we would never be able to colonize the galaxy(s). However, we are created with that ability, and these recent decades show we have not only the ability, but the destiny to populate life across the barren universe. It seems to be what we were made to do, and when we have begun to do it, there will be no need to die to make room for new generations.

There is so much room no matter how rapidly we reproduce we will never fill it. Death will not only no longer be necessary, but will be a terrible loss of good company our posterity will deeply lament. It is for this good reason that in the paradise to come we will be immortal, that good company of good people will be more potential in the inconceivable breadth of the universe.

Dear @valued-customer !
East Asians today also claim that individuals who are disconnected from their relationships with the individual and the group are becoming a cancer in society.

For 3,000 years, the East Asian world was a world where slaves, loyal and obedient to overlords, watched over and ruled over other slaves.
The overlords granted wealth and power only to their loyal slaves. So, the slaves wage war against each other to win the overlords' favor.

So, I must be more wary and careful of slaves than of overlords!
In the world I live in, only those who earn their own USdollars can have freedom. My every action is monitored by the overlords' slaves.

I hope your health and long life!

"For 3,000 years, the East Asian world was a world where slaves, loyal and obedient to overlords, watched over and ruled over other slaves."

Not just E. Asia, but this has been the circumstance throughout most of the world. When agriculture advented management was necessary, and that service was able to be abused by cunning psychopaths, whom quickly endeavored to gain that position. For >10k years centralization of means of production have both enabled technological advance and increase of the blessings of civilization, but also the increasing power and parasitism imposed by overlords.

Only in recent decades has decentralization of the means of production begun to decrease the power of overlords and restore ordinary sovereign people to their natural authority over themselves, whom endeavor to merit their enjoyment of the blessings of civilization by making them. Because the most advanced technology is the most productive technology, decentralized production out competes centralized production, and this is happening in every field of industry today. Because overlords cannot compete with sovereign people on a fair playing field, and they absolutely intend to maintain their wealth and power, they do not intend to play fair.

They will afflict humanity with every imaginable cruelty, atrocity, and kill as many of us as is necessary for them to retain their sybaritic wealth and power.

Fortunately God is not mocked, and Satanic lust for power does not defeat the creator of the universe. Overlords will do their worst, and they will fail. We will suffer horrific harm. Many good people will die, and only the hardest working, best planning, and secure of us will survive victorious over the raging parasites, whom will wail and gnash their teeth at being defeated.

I hope you do the work, plan, and secure you and yours against the coming catastrophe our masters will inflict in a vain attempt to keep their power, and are among the elect whom rule themselves as God created us to do, hale and prosperous, when the contest is over.
