Thought of the Day #3

in #life7 years ago

Today, I found a quote I found inspiring. It is soo simple that it is great!

Good ideas are laughed at in the beginning.
-Katrucha Huork

Who is Katrucha Huork?
Honestly I do not know. I could not find any details about the quoter. Let me know in the comments if you find anything out about this person. I would love to know.

What does the quote mean?
The quote goes to say that if you pitch an awesome idea to someone (other than your peers, family, or anyone else from your circle of influence because our loved ones will always support us, right?) you likely won’t receive the feedback to your liking to continue on with your awesome idea. But the quote implies that if you truly believe in it and don’t give up in it, the idea can become huge for you one day.

The quote is significant to me because…
Famous people we read about in the papers or online whom accomplished great success were once just average people like us. What made them great is their unwillingness to give up on their ideas and dreams.

For example:
--Before NETFLIX became the leader in streaming TV shows and movies, they were laughed at by the big video companies for introducing DVD rentals over the mail.
--Before BITCOIN and other cryptocurrencies were recognized as a viable solution to the world’s financial problems, people called it a fad and a pyramid scheme. Some still don’t believe it but in my opinion, it’s truly revolutionary and is our future.
--Long before APPLE came out with the iPhone, they were a couple of guys building computers out of their garage competing in an environment dominated by IBM corp.

Can you guess why they succeeded? They never gave up trying even when the environment rejected them.

CHALLENGE OF THE DAY:
It may be worth reconsidering a recent “awesome” idea you had that was shut away because people thought it was crazy.

What does the Quote mean to you???

I have no idea who Katrucha Huork is either but it's a solid quote! I totally agree with what you've written. Sometimes people have a vision that is so far ahead of what the average person can conceptualize it seems crazy to them or difficult to understand. Most people thought the Earth was the center of the universe until Copernicus' heliocentric theory.

That's right, @ericvancewalton. This day and age an awesome idea can get you rich, a nobel peace prize, or both. And poor Mr. Copernicus... he didn't get proper recognition until hundreds of years later. :(

It's definitely an excellent quote! No idea who "Katrucha Huork" is... but it fits right up there with the "first they laugh at you, then they reject you, then you're famous" types of sayings.

Very true. People seem to have differing acceptance levels. The educated ones catch on quicker and are your best resource to show off your awesome ideas to. ;)

If the circumstances warrant it, leave these people behind and move on when you must. Pursue your dreams...

I agree. It may be wasteful to spend so much energy convincing a critic that it could burn you out in the end. When one door closes, its sometimes better to seek another.
