in #life6 years ago

Mumbai woke up to a manic Monday as it continued to pour for a fourth day in a row. The city has had 131 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. Water on the tracks has forced the cancellation of many trains on the western line at Nallasopara. Trains on the central line between Kalwa and Thane and harbour line between Thane to Vashi were delayed/affected/cancelled.

Flights are operating on schedule from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. However, services of trains have been affected due to continuous rains. Some of the city’s bus services have also been diverted with BEST providing
Many of the city’s tony areas in South Mumbai were waterlogged as were the central parts of town like Byculla and suburbs such as Thane, Bandra, Dombivali.

The weatherman predicts that heavy rains are expected in districts of Thane, Palghar and Mumbai till July 11, which may lead to adverse weather and traffic conditions. Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg will witness extremely heavy rain at isolated places.

As incessant rains continue to lash Mumbai and adjoining areas, lifeguard chairs have been arranged at all the six beaches here for better visibility, along with a manual siren, public address system, ring boys and life jackets.

This came after two boys died and two feared drowned off Juhu beach here earlier this week.

A statement from the Mumbai Fire Brigade read, “Despite warnings, people venture into the sea and endanger life. My appeal to public at large is to be aware of the danger and take all warnings issued seriously.”Mumbai-rains-1.jpg
