Why isn't anyone looking at your post?

After reading the post, it’s clearly a well-written post, but look at the view and the upvote, both numbers are unexpectedly low. But why?

After finishing writing a post, let’s not talk about whether the post is well written or not, just the topic itself is easy to attract the argument and all kinds of brilliant opinions.

Then why am I insist on writing, and doing this thankless work? I'm sorry, I don't like being abused in such a situation.

This post does not have the intention to explain the problem from the core, but to combine my reading experience, sharing my humble opinion, just for a reference only.

Before I start, I want to explain what does a “good post” means:

This refers to the "above average," recognized as a good post by the "majority" of the reader.

For Steemian, you should have the habit of reading other people's post, but the question is, how much do you read and how often do you read.

Whether you are from the Steemit home page, or a tag or the author's homepage, as well as post that send in Steemit.chat/ Discord group, there is always some "puzzling" post.

After reading the post, it’s clearly a well-written post, but looking at the view and the upvote, both numbers are unexpectedly low. But why?

Including our own posts, we will also encounter the same problems. If you make a careful diagnosis, it's still the case, and you can't pick out any more obvious problems.

It seems perfect, but can't get rid of the "no view/upvote" embarrassing situation.

After the analysis of the post itself, we also need to comb to the bottom of the post to see whether it is smooth to read or not.

But before you post, you need to understand the importance of the topic, and whether the topic is consistent with what you wrote. The funny thing is, it's such a simple truth that no one never thought about it.

Therefore, do not rely on your feelings and randomly pick a topic.

And also do not choose small topics that have less attention, or you will miss out the opportunity to capture the reader's attention.

According to the steps I have mentioned above, after checking everything, if still cannot relieve your confusion, it is necessary to ask the most "shouldn't" ask question:

How many followers do you have? Assuming you don't have much , then there is no need to say more.

The other thing is that when your followers are basically unchanged or slightly reduced, but your view/upvote is still particularly "bad." There are three compelling reasons:

  • You don’t have new post for a long time, some followers have chosen to forget you;
  • Or the writing style of your post has undergone a "great change," causing some followers difficult to accept;
  • Or it is you who cause the post quality dropped and that the followers started to dislike you.

After eliminating the possibility of a variety of followers "anomalies", there is a problem that should not be overlooked, you should have guessed. Right, that's the title.

The title is a post "signboard," "good" title can stimulate the reader's desire to read, "bad" title will be the reader directly shutout [ *like most of my post :( *].

If you are so unlucky and done this, then a good piece of work will be "unprovoked" to suffer, all efforts will naturally be "wasted".

"Pay attention" to the title of your post.

Don’t you think it's scary? The importance of the title is in fact self-evident. Many people just don't pay enough attention, or they simply don't realize it.

Therefore, start from today, while trying to write a good quality post, at the same time, it is better if you can pay slight attention to the title of your post.

Because this is a writer's façade, how can it be sloppy?

In summary, I wrote too much to explain the meaning of the title of a post.

It seems like top-heavy, but in fact, it is a step-by-step. Emphasis on the analysis of the process of the problem, the conclusion is deliberately to the point.

What kind of title is considered "good," how to write a good title, I will be discussing in a future post. (or not)

If you don’t pay much attention to your title, then no matter how many people have read this post, this post will have no value to you.

And also, other than the title, I believe the upvotes also has a huge impact on your post. From what I observed, most of the people will only read posts that with a high value of upvotes. You might already notice that the comment in those posts, most of the comments are not related to the posts, most of them are "great post," "I enjoy reading your post," "I upvoted and followed you," etc...

I believed this is called herd behavior. When you see a post that has a high value of upvotes, you will put more attention on the post and even upvote it before you read. So, even if everyone upvote value is only $0.10, imagine there are 100 of peoples out there, are doing what you are doing, then the post value will have $10 upvotes, but it doesn't stop there, the more the upvotes value the post have, the more the people will upvote and notice the post.

And the post with a high value of upvotes will get even more upvotes as time passes. On the other hand, no matter how well-written your post is, but if your post upvotes are like only a few cents, most of the people won't even look at your post because, in their mind, they already have the thought of "high upvote value = good content".

Of course, there are other reasons why people are not looking at your post. But hey, this is just my thought on the steemit community. If you have any different idea, please feel free to comment so that you can help others too.
