Everybody loves a great poker analogy. But in practice it’s hard to resist playing short term come ups. Ego wants to stay in the game, keep relevant. But smart conservative strategy will easily forgo being the obnoxious chip leader, for longevity’s sake. At the end of the day, it’s all about who’s at the table last.

Today, I rolled a 42nd hexagram, with a changing first line. The meaning of this can essentially sound like: “cultivate a sincere heart.” May sincerity be at the kernel of everything you do. So that you proceed righteously. (Not to be confused with “self-righteousness”. Fuck that bullshit.) To rest in that simple essence of what your life’s work has always been about. Wake, eat, shit, love, play, learn, rest. Repeat.

In this way, when things are in your favour, you double your assets. Conversely, when things are out of favour, you act conservatively to lock in your profits. Become increasingly aware these various cycles in your life. Energetic cycles are also known as biorhythms . Being in touch with yourself both physically and emotionally will not only ultimately save you in medical bills, it will give you the cool collected ness to pursue your purpose. If you’re confused at how this relates to you, you have work to do. We all have a natural purpose beyond paying the bills. And it’s the refinement of that gift/curse that you must use to make real progress. The kind that goes with you where your body won’t.

It’s definitely easier said than done. But life is more about refining, than defining.
