Life vs Stockmarket

As the Stockmarket closes for the day, the working day ends as well. The Stockmarket has always been a constant roller coaster ride but don’t you feel life is like the Stockmarket as well. The saying does say “Life is full of ups and downs.” In life, just when we think things are bad enough, as Murphy’s Law put it bluntly, “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”, it gets worst which is like the Stockmarket, when you think stock price is low enough, it gets lower.

Murphy, I know you are somewhere as I post this 😊

In the Stockmarket, traders analyse technical indicators to find out ways to profit from stocks in good or bad times.
What about us. Do we make it a point to analyse past experiences whether it’s good or bad? Chances are we tend to look and at the good but ignore the bad.

But is there really nothing to be learnt bad experiences? There is always a silver lining waiting to be found. When Thomas Edison failed in his 10,000 attempts in finding the correct material for the filament to be used in a light bulb, he said “ I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

Could Edison have failed even further with his attempts? If stocks prices can drop even further, why couldn’t he? But would he have given up and not learn from the failures. I am sure he would learn from the failure and persists on.
It is when we find that silver lining in our failures could we persist on even when the tough gets going. Cause you would never know, it could be when you find that silver lining, things could turn better just like how the stockmarket swings and prices goes up. As I said in other post, events happen at random, but what determines the outcome is our response.

So I challenge all to take a little time to reflect the challenges you experience today or throughout the week, find that silver lining and you could be looking at the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Interesting comparison. I can see the similarity between stock market and life. The most important is that you need to ensure in long run, it will bounce back and keep going up but not coming down and people lose interest on the stock (you).

Hi @wilkinshui, yup it is how we response to it that determines the outcome.

good job!

Nice comparison and a great point. I do need to work on recognizing the silver lining.
