At your own pace.

Today, seeing my mother use a computer with some agility and great enthusiasm, made me think that it is never too late to learn and to do the things we want to do. At first, about a year ago, when she was 82 years old and began her journey as a cybernaut, she was afraid to touch the buttons on the keyboard because she thought she was going to make a mistake or damage the computer she was using. But that's a thing of the past, today he does household chores quickly in order to manage his time in the best possible way and thus be able to devote the necessary hours to perform the new activity that he loves, which is to see the world through the Internet.

The ideal is that from the beginning she would have done a course on computers but she did not want to claim that she was a very old person and that maybe the instructor was not going to have the necessary patience or she was not going to understand. Of course, her learning process was slow but we already know that this was due to the negative thoughts that anguished her, caused her fear and paralyzed her. But greater than her fears was her desire and willingness to learn and this led her to gradually become familiar with computers. In order to do so, she asked for guidance from every family member who approached her. Some gave him time and explained, others had no patience for that purpose. But with constant dedication and practice he was able to learn enough to check his social networks, investigate some natural remedies, watch the news and, most importantly, communicate with his grandchildren who are inside and outside the country thus shortening the distances.

Now, that process my mom went through is common to all of us. In some circumstance, in some moment, we have felt moved by the desire to do something new but we have limited ourselves due to certain erroneous beliefs that we have about ourselves. But it is in those moments when we must leverage our will, our constancy and recognize that we are unique, always keeping in mind that everyone has their own rhythm, their own process and thus give us permission to do the things we want to do.
