“After he came down from the mountain, large crowds followed him. And a leper approached, and bowed low before him, saying, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” He stretched out his hand and touched him saying, “I am willing. Be clean!” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” - Matthew 8:1-3
During the time of the old covenant, a leper can only be cleansed by secluding himself from the community of Israel and the presence of God. He needs to stay outside the camp until his leprosy ceases. Leprosy makes a person unclean that's why they are not permitted to enter the camp and can be stoned to death if they are found wandering around. It takes a long time before a person can be free from leprosy. So we can imagine how lonely are the lives of lepers at that time being excommunicated from their nation and family.
But Jesus reversed this way of being healed from this disease. The leper in the passage above received his healing not by removing himself from the presence of God but by coming directly unto him. The holiness of Jesus was so strong that it overshadowed the impurity of the leper.
I saw some people who seclude themselves from God and the church whenever they face difficulties or whenever they sin. But this method won't heal you from whatever you are facing. It would only make things worse in your life. The more you face struggles the more you should draw near to Jesus. He is God's remedy to our every need.
Trust that Christ is wise enough and good enough to get you through whatever difficulties you are facing. We cannot handle things perfectly by our own power. It's when we entrust ourselves to Christ that we experience victory in all areas of our lives.
