ANSWER: You have an intense need to be in a companionship of someone who can make you feel good & accepted, this is so subtle that you aren’t even aware of its powers in making you emotionally weak. In a weird way you feel that that person with whom you are attached with won’t be there with you tomorrow which unconsciously intensifies your attachment to him/her.

You know exactly what to do but because your emotions dominate your reason you can't seem to act on your sanity. To make matters worse, the moment you meet someone and that person happens to be like the one who will give you the space that you long for, you get attached to her/him quickly, this is mainly because you fear that once you lose this person you will never again meet someone that understands you and/or accepts you like they did.

We attach ourselves for two reasons: 1) because we haven't felt so accepted and understood in a long time by anyone and 2) being with that person makes us feel complete, happy, fulfilled etc. Feelings we can't imagine generating by ourselves.

Now that you know what you’re feeling let us break some several points on what you can do to change this:

  1. Firstly, explore the world around you, do this and in less than 6 months, you will successfully turn into a 'social butterfly', something that will enable you to interact with many people and make some quality connections.

  2. Secondly, realize that when you meet a variety of people who make you feel good, you will have a firm control over your attachment with one specific person.

  3. Later, make yourself understand, that attachment isn’t love. Love is quite free from anything that leads to suffering. You can love a person without being addicted to him/her.

  4. Finally, as you evolve, give yourself a 'top priority'. For instance, start to work out, start reading books, enrol for courses that will teach you new skills, and most importantly make a point of being in the company of inspiring and happy people with a smile on their faces and cheer in their hearts. Give yourself something to look up to. It will make you stronger and wiser.

Goodluck, I'm rooting for you.❤
