Island Life

I was invited to spend the weekend on an island surrounded by the cold(in my opinion) waters of Gulf of Bothnia. Prime summer weather is already long gone and it was mostly raining cats and dogs but we got a bit of sun here and there.

I was woken up by the cutest alarm clock in the form of a toddler, ate good food, tried paddle boarding, knitted in the cabin while it rained outside, soaked in the hot tub for hours while being served drinks and took a dip in the sea.

There was barely any cell service but that was fine because there was plenty of relaxed entertainment all day long. I had my proper camera with me of course and I took some photos here and there to be posted once I’m back at home.

I see you are always happy in your life. What's the secret? Oops, don't say. let nature answer. Hehehe...

Enjoying mostly very simple pleasures :)

So true. I agree with you. Pleasure is simplicity to enjoy. Everyone will always be happy.

I really like the last photo!

On the western coast form Pori to Kokkola at the least, they celebrate the end of the cabin season in a festivity called Venetsialaiset at the last weekend of August. There are bonfires and fireworks. That last photo reminds me of the final weekends of the summer when the air is still relatively warm but the evenings have become notably darker.

I’m pretty sure they do that all the way up the coast. I was in Raahe :)

That last photo is taken while I tried to sneak to the huussi without waking the baby that slept in the same cabin 😁

It's so nice

Now I'm homesick for Canada.

You left Canada to live in US, are you mental? 😅

People may have different reasons to do so, some of them good. But based on what I know about life in the US and Canada, I'd stay in Canada. Less financial stress.

Well I am mental but...

My parents moved us here when I was a little kid so I grew up here. It was really fun here then in the 60's and 70's. My biggest mistake was not moving back in the 80's or early 90's.

You might be surprised at how nice the west coast is from Central California up through Oregon and Washington and then Canada, British Columbia. Vancouver has exploded in population but the rest is wide open.

Long Beach where I am now is just surrounded by too many people. I should look it up but I'm going to guess the population had quadrupled or more in southern California. There used to be lots of open land south of me to San Diego. Now the developers have filled it up. Somebody got rich lol.

Oh and I'm really sick of endless summer and no rain.

I get it, it wasn't your decision originally. Nature being lovely is not a surprise, not even in the US, but it's just everything else there that sounds pretty shitty.

Will Canada take you back? 😂

It's a long coast line up to Alaska. Very small towns with forests and mountains, cliffs and rocky points. Little coves. Cool weather. Giant redwood trees!

In a sense the crazy doesn't affect them. This is an enormous place over here. You wouldn't even know all the shitty places and things that are going on hundreds and even thousands of miles away.

I'm still a Canadian citizen so yes they would I think. I don't know about vax and whatever other crap they might want. Luckily I have no felony arrest record. Canada bars all convicted felons from entry! 😀

The glass raised photo would be such a good ad for anywhere with water!

I think the waters are an ad all on their own :)

I wonder if it hurts when those cats and dogs hit the ground.

Don’t know about dogs but I hear cats always land on their feet.

Haha. Well said smart ass. ✅😉

Looks so chill! and you're so pretty! I start to feel like I have a crush lol

Now you are just making me blush!
