It has been 3 weeks but I am back with another episode covering some of my exploits and the stories that come with them. I like to take a look back to reflect on a week's memories and experiences and share with the Hive community for conversation and crypto rewards. It's not rocket surgery but hopefully it entertains a few folks around the world.
This week, I am actually catching up on 3 as we settle into the Christmas Holidays in small town Canadia.

Pre-Winter

I have managed to keep up the fun habit of taking the dog on an extended walk on the weekend. Winter threatened to settle in early but I knew better for my number of years around the sun. While the temperature dips a bit and there is a small amount of snow, it is like a tease. It has been above freezing by a large margin over the last while, with some sun, rain and big winds. Comparatively, a little stroll in the fresh snow with the dogs works just nicely.

Foodtography

On the marketing side, @town-crier has partnered up with a client for a new offering. https://thaihut.ca is a local Thai restaurant run by a nice, hard working family and the food happens to be fantastic. Restaurants have had an interesting couple of years here, as you may imagine, and we love helping them out. I shot a few social media pics of their newest offering and we have started a campaign to help the community discover it.
The signature Pad Thai sauce is now available purchase along with take out at https://thaihut.ca/menu/takeout#section8 The label boasts a guide to preparing your own Pad Thai at home. We gave it a try, screwed up the noodles and it still tasted great!

Santa Claus Comes to Town!

The snow returned triumphantly the day the local Santa Claus parade hit this small town. Covid cancelled it last year and we are walking into another Christmas lockdown because of the spread of the Omnichromevilmonster strain. This year, people cautiously gathered around city hall to watch the floats, bands and the big man himself. I would rather skip standing in the cold and watching a slow-moving procession of waving people but my little one was a member of the marching band playing the carols. Give me motivation enough to get out and take it in.

Marketing > I/T

Back to work for a moment as I have to share another shot from the "Shit Zeke Sees" category. What do you do when you are asked to bring internet into a business and their "I/T Closet" looks like this? Modems on switches on routers on servers on wireless access points? Well, I bring in the wire, label it well and ask them to have their Kentucky I/T guy tell them where to plug it in. Glad to be mostly out of the I/T support business and working on marketing and sales these past couple years.

Local Cuisine

It was a busy week in dining for us as well with a birthday celebration, Christmas dinner, takeout night and family pizza night all in the same week. The bills added up to over $500 for the week but it was a nice change. We are in a small town with too many restaurants due to the extremely busy tourist summers. A couple years of no tourists has had its impact but we have miraculously managed to retain pretty much all of our restaurants thus far. A couple which closed were replaced by brave new one which have done fairly well (especially if @town-crier https://towncriermarkting.ca does their marketing!) This winter may be the toughest yet so the extra money spent dining lavishly on the town feels both like reward and civic duty. I may have a restaurant review for this one https://www.pazzo.ca/in the works. Great visit!

Rock 'N Roll!

Another throwback to normal is our trip to the neighbouring city to catch a live rock 'n roll show! There haven't been many so getting to hit the road and enjoy with friends is pretty special. My buddy D and I caught a couple local acts along with Danko Jones https://www.dankojones.com/ I am not sure how many outside of Canada have heard of him but he is straight up rock with piles of passion and 25 years with a 3-piece so there is that. You can check em out with this song and I may throw together story to mark this fun night.

Beer!

Of course there have been a good number of beer to maintain my #beerologist status. You can read about this one here https://hive.blog/beersaturday/@zekepickleman/beersaturday-233-double-haze-all-in-my-brain and rest assured I will have a basket of new ones for the upcoming #beersaturday

Go Hive!

For a hot minute, some of us were billionaires according to coinmarketcap. Maybe a glimpse or some foreshadowing into the distant future but made me pause and wonder what I would do with $119 Billion. Start planning and #Hive on!

Hope

Here is my poor impersonation of @daveks who shoots the most epic sunsets on the blockchain. Equal parts #marketfriday, #wednesdaywalk, #sublimesunday depending on when you are visiting the square. Here's hope that the looming lockdowns work well to contain the workload on the healthcare system, doesn't last too long, and we are back to recovering a level of normal as the spring draws closer.
Thanks for checking in catching up on a couple weeks of small town Christmas revelry.
