First of all, it is necessary to understand love.
Undoubtedly love is the most powerful force in the universe, the energy that moves and transforms the traveller for the next stations on the road. Marriage cannot be contracted as if a deed of purchase were granted. Everything will be wrong. Thus, suffering is born of the illegitimate attachment to the desire to have what cannot be possessed.
The curtailment of someone's freedom for the sake of someone else's fears and desires is not justifiable. Carelessness and ignorance in allowing the manifestation in the heart of low vibrational emotions such as jealousy, envy, pride and vanity are the true and only reasons for suffering. However, these shadows, always elusive and always disguised, are exempted from responsibility and unjustly attributed to love. For millennia, love has been condemned for crimes it has never committed and we continue to believe the lie, squandering the beauty and grandeur of love.
Jealousy is not love
Jealousy is not love. One kills out of jealousy, never out of love. They are antagonistic feelings. I have often heard the phrase: "If you love, you are jealous". Lies! And a lie repeated a thousand times becomes the truth, which is unfortunate, because it leads people astray. Yes, it is true. Jealousy, envy, pride, vanity, fear are some of the emotions that make up the shadows that lurk in the innermost part of all of us. Transmuting them is the great battle. There are those who feel jealousy and kill; there are those who feel jealousy and pick up the guitar to compose a song.
While some allow the shadows to become masters of themselves, dominating and deceiving their will, others enlighten them, modifying them forever from their former condition. Only the understanding of the infinite possibilities of love sustains and expands the frontiers of wisdom, leading us to Wholeness.
Affinity and compatibility.
It is necessary to understand that it is the Law of Affinity that governs the rapprochement between people. An energetic frequency of feelings and thoughts vibrating at similar levels attract each other. This can last a day or centuries. Therefore, letting go or giving up when you feel that the ties are not being maintained with the necessary intensity, means that they are already at different points on the road. To respect choices is to understand the way. It is wise, it is an act of love. It frees us to write new stories and fulfil a new cycle. Separations are not losses, they are opportunities.
For a start, we often focus on demanding to be loved instead of loving without demands, inverting the natural logic of love, which needs renunciation in order to spread and shine in its fullness. We have only what we give from the heart, with purity and sincerity, without attachments, conditions or tribute; However, I notice that people make a kind of "affection ledger", where they write down credits and debits in the illusion of making a profit or, in the worst case, settling the "love and care" account. This will never be love.
''HE/SHE didn't make me happy''.
Another common motive is to shift the responsibility for making the other person happy in emotional relationships. It is like sending the other person to do a job that only they can do. Happiness can only be found within oneself in processes of self-knowledge, of healing through truth, of transmutation of old ways of thinking and acting. This construction is personal and non-transferable.
Putting the obligation to be happy on the other person? It's all wrong. Sheer fear of facing the battles of development and evolution that must be fought with oneself, between ego and soul: shadow and light. Love demands giving, never taking. In general, by unhappy irony, one charges a lot when one has little to give. We must share the love that blossoms in us and not ardently desire to extract it from the other like an addict in search of a drug.
''What about the loss of a loved one?''
Loss? What loss? How long are we going to insist on not demystifying death? Death is a certainty, full stop. Remembering every day that we are going to die at any moment is very healthy, it broadens the meaning of life, refines time, refines choices. If we understand that death is not the end of a story, but the change of a chapter in the book of life, there will be no suffering. The longing for the departure will be a source of joy in the reunion. Countless departures and arrivals. The bonds stitched by love are eternal and will bind them all together in the future. Again the law of affinity. If this were not so, nothing would make sense.
In the meantime, we learn, we transmute, we share in order to move forward, ready for new adventures in a never-ending story. Nostalgia should be a cause for joy, for there is only longing where there is love. Let us celebrate nostalgia, for he who does not feel it resides in emptiness. Thus, the exact perception of the Laws of the Universe transforms suffering into stardus.

Beautifully written. Love is a hard concept to truly nail down. In many ways it has the potential to trigger those many other emotional reactions, yet once it does we love gets left behind.

Hard agree! Every time I see someone who acts super jealous, I think they are just displaying that they don't trust the other person, and ergo that they don't love that person, because how can you love without trust? All they are is possessive and insecure.

Same here, the art of loving is supposed to be giving without expecting anything in return. If you are jealous it is distrust, if you distrust it is not love. And if the other person did not value your love, it is not your fault, you should be proud to have truly loved with no strings attached. You have to celebrate the one who comes, the one who leaves is no longer part of your cycle. Unfortunately we are still stubborn in this sense.
