Was just watching a documentary show with my dad about ancient life on Mars. Solar Flares are able to travel through the solar systems at high velocities. Jupiter is next to Mars, and Jupiter is the dominant planet in the solar system, and helps protect our solar system from asteroid collisions, etc. But then I realized that if a solar flare reached mars it would be quite interesting lol. Jupiter has gases in it's outer atmosphere(obv Hydrogen, Helium, and some methane and ammonia). Now solar flares are composed of many particles and stuff, and it has lots of protons, and radiation.
Jupiter is known to accelerate ions and particles/gases around the planet at high speeds. So if a solar flare was to reach Jupiter's atmosphere, it would be not so good. It would cause already ionic atoms to become even more charged, which would cause higher speeds, and higher increase the reactivity with other elements SIGNIFICANTLY. Even worse is that depending on how big the solar flare, it COULD cause an unstable reaction which causes gases to leak from the atmosphere.
And it could worsen the storms inside Jupiter.
