I think the main problem with Drill is it's shit. It is the worst aspect of the Grime scene. There are a couple of OK tunes, but it's such a monotone and for me it is the least talented people in Grime who get into Drill.
Also Drill is violent, listen to 67 or any of those other guys and they're talking about going out and robbing with guns and knives and committing murder.
Don't get me wrong, most of these guys are 'plastic' gangsters, like 67, however you can't escape from the fact that Drill started when various gangs would 'send' for each other on Youtube.
You also can't get away from the fact that a lot of these Drillers end up in prison and/or dead.
As to whether it causes violence, that's another thing, I'm sure it has been responsible for firing up some liccle yoot somewhere, but in reality, for the main part, it is simply reflecting violence that already exists.
I do agree that drill music doesn't much talent and the content is mostly violent which does further perpetuate many issues in parts of the UK.
There also is the undeniable gang affiliations attached to the music, which is why I completely understand people not licking the music and shunning the people involved, however when people start saying that the music makes people commit crimes I have an issue because if you can blame music for you actions and that can remove some of the accountability then people will start to blame anything and everything for what they do wrong and think they are not accountable for their actions.
Agreed, it's like when certain politicians tried to blame certain computer games for perpetuating violence. Ultimately these people are just trying to win votes, so it makes it doubly annoying because they probably don't really believe their own hype!
