Instant Meditation

in #meditation8 years ago (edited)

Meditation is simply being mindful, being aware of what is here in this very moment without thoughts or other activities in the mind.  It doesn't require to be in the sitting position or some kind of pose, it's simply ending the thought process. It can be done anytime, anywhere.

  • Stare without blinking.
  • Absorb the senses in your heart.
  • Look lovingly at an object.
  • Watch your moods.
  • Just as you have the impulse to do something, stop!
  • When some desire comes, consider it then suddenly quit it.
  • Eyes closed, see your inner being in detail.  See your true nature.
  • Look at an object as a whole.
  • Look at an object as if for the first time.
  • Listen to a stringed instrument.
  • In the sex act, do not seek the release.
  • Eat and drink consciously.
  • Be aware of the gap between waking and sleep.
  • Think of the world as an illusion.
  • In the moods of extreme desire, be undisturbed.
  • Be aware of that which never changes in you.

These are just a few that I find the most effective for me.   Everyone can meditate in their own ways.  Whatever works to help you be free from unnecessary thinking and mind chatter, and also to give a feeling of well-being.

Free the heart from hatred; Free the mind from worries; Live simply; Give more; Expect less.
