SUNSHOWERPRINTABLES The Insatiable Urge to Start Over

in #mentalhealth7 years ago

Here I am again, struggling with the insane desire to scrub clean my life slate and start over one more.

It's been a while since I've posted so I want to erase everything and begin a new blog. It's been a while since I've read Feeling Good by Dr. Burns so I will need to start from chapter one again. It's been a while since I've updated my website and products, so I feel the need to delete everything and redesign them once more.

My extreme perfectionism and OCD have been terrible lately. Whether it is a symptom of my anxiety or a fun new addition to my growing list of mental/mood disorders, I struggle with it daily. One step forward, two steps back.

It is a testament to my growth and strength that I have posted this short article when all I wanted to do is delete it instead.

Here is my question to you all...

Was there ever a time when you felt the desire to start over? Did you? Or did you move forward despite your misgivings? And if you continued onwards... what convinced you to keep going instead?

I kind of view each day as a "starting over" with a another chance to try and do things better than yesterday. Notice I said "try" because, as we all know, it doesn't always work out the way you hoped it would. Onward ...

I thrive on change, but I try to think of it as "moving forward" instead of "starting over". Even if I stop what I'm currently doing and switch to a completely different direction, I still consider it a step forward in my personal development and self awareness.
