I have put all my eggs in the Steemit basket over the last year and this has been a big mistake in hindsight.
Now I am scrambling to get action happening in other areas that I have neglected all this time and find myself at a loss for what to do in most of them. I have dropped the connections and forgotten how to do a lot of the tasks I used to do daily. This is made harder still by my panicked mind.
At one point in my steemit journey, I took a look at my book sales, affiliate sales and coaching work, and saw everything dropping. Instead of working on those aspects of my work, I decided to work harder in steemit instead. When the price was higher, I had hope that my posts would get to a consistent $10 payout and would be visible on search engines.
If I got to $10 and a search engine ranking:
- My affiliate links, posted on steemit, would be visible to the world
- My weight loss ideas posted on steemit, would be visible to the world
- My social media ideas posted on steemit, would be visible to the world
This is not going to happen with the current prices and the number of people who regularly upvote my posts. Where I used to be close to $10 or above it regularly, now I am very lucky to get a post over $5 by the time of payout.
Now that I can face the fact that steemit is not going to pay my bills, picking up those other tasks and making them work again seems insurmountable.
But where there is life, there is hope, and so I will do my best to focus on one thing at a time and succeed. I need to do this, not only for me, but for my son @bxlphabet, who relies on me still though we are far apart in distance.
My son is my proofreader and is very familiar with my work on social media. Now that we are both looking at my other work to try to pick up the pieces, his common response is, "Mom! How could have stopped doing XXXX? You were doing so well with it."
My answer is always, " I was posting on steemit since it was doing so well." But this is not really the truth. I was posting on steemit even when it was not doing so well and continue to do so now. I saw the potential here and still do, but this potential is just that - potential. Today I need to work on my current urgent reality instead of hoping for future benefits.

As someone who deals with search engine optimisation for a living. (Although nowadays I mainly delegate to my staff whilst I concentrate on the social media side of the business.)
Having your articles on Steemit is a fantastic way of increasing your overall presence on the internet, and you may find down the road this will pay off. I had a particular article relating to 'Easter Bonuses' and 'Slots' every year around March and April this brought a huge spike into my gaming site, even after 7 years!
I have also had other articles that have been on the net for 2-3 years that have generated traffic all of a sudden.
I think the more you do, the more chance of being successful, and the only way to fail is to give up.
I agree completely. My website is mostly filled with evergreen posts and that is how I get affiliate sales. I too see old posts all of the sudden get popular - probably some news on the topic come out and people search the terms I used.
I have some steemit posts generating traffic too. But most of my posts do not go over the $10 payout thresh hold now and so are not seen by the search engines.
I'm definitely not giving up :)
