Bring Out Yer Dead! A Steemit Graveyard Edition...

in #money8 years ago (edited)

@pierce-the-veil: This post is for every single one of you who has spent countless hours posting quality content only to have it go "Poof" and disappear without recognition. We know you are looking to monetize, so are we.

Unlike most of you, I have been a social media holdout for years. Fecesbook, Kinkedin, and Twatter held no appeal to me. (I literally joined facebook just to join steemit). That's right, 29 and no myspace or facebook till 2016.

In an attempt to help myself and others proactively gain some traction as legitimate and creative authors, I am taking off the gloves and declaring every Tuesday Night hereafter to be: "THE NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD".
This idea is a joint venture of @pierce-the-veil & @teruneo.

Therefore, every Tuesday Night(now) until further notice, @pierce-the-veil will be posting a "Graveyard Edition", inviting all fellow Steemers to comment and share their most valued "dead post".

On Friday Night, @pierce-the-veil will carefully review all the comments and pick the best top three "dead posts".

In order to qualify, each commenter must meet the following criteria:

  1. You must bring quality content, no fluff.
  2. You must include a link to your post.
  3. You must include your full tag name.
  4. You must include a short statement on why you feel it was valuable.
  • We will skip over any comments missing these criteria.

Every Saturday Night @piercetheveil will post the results in a weekly post called "The Undertaker Awards".
In that post we will briefly state what we learned from reading all the comments and submissions.

In that Post we will describe the winners.

  • Each winner (1-3) listed shall include a brief analysis of why we chose it, the author tag, and the post link.

Hopefully this will ease some of the pressure seething under the surface for those who are honorably posting quality content, only to be outperformed by stupid cat art and pictures of coffeemakers; established Facebook followings, whales, etc.

BEST NEWS! Another chance for you guys to monetize and magnetize your following in the comment section.
Build your reputation, get your posts out there, and most of all, find a following.

Because anybody can up-vote a post they like in the comments section, whether we choose it or not.

This hopefully will assist everyone in sharing a little success and gaining recognition.

Sort:

@pierce-the-veil - are you aware of the dance of the 7 veils? "a term used to refer to the dance performed by Salome before Herod Antipas." "The Babylonian goddess Ishtar "performed the first documented striptease" when she descended into the underworld in search of Tammuz. Ishtar had to "relinquish her jewels and robes at each of the seven gates to the underworld until she stands naked in the 'land of no return.' Oscar Wilde assigned this symbolic descent to the underworld of the unconscious, a ceremony that equates stripping naked to being in a state of truth, the ultimate unveiling, to Salome."

@pierce-the-veil: Short Answer? No. More Importantly, way to bring the esoteric sauce to the table brother.
Wilde was definitely on point with that analysis.
Well received!

Excellent! Thanks for the compliment : )
Tom Robbins - my favourite author, introduced me to it in his wonderful book "skinny legs and all" - I highly recommend it!

This is a great idea!

So without further ado (what the hell is ado anyway?) I present the dead post I'm most proud of:
Is Steemit good for you? - How this website has changed me.
I think it's worth a read for any Steemers to get them thinking about what effect the website is having on their lives.

follow me @freewill

@pierce-the-veil: Nice. All criteria met. Thank you for your competence, support, and I will definitely put this in the running!
P.s. I'm now following you as well.

Regards,

Jordan
@pierce-the-veil

Thanks! I've returned the follow favour (as I always do)!
@freewill

This is great. You may also want to open it up for people to nominate other people's posts.. make it something like @dragonslayer109's Hidden Gems except a Graveyard Edition where anyone can bring up past posts..

I support this idea : )

@pierce-the-veil: Yes. Duly noted. Thank you for bringing that up @steemrollin. I will make sure to include a notice about this on the next post. As for the current effectiveness of such a notion? Granted Posthaste!

Therefore by Graveyard decree, be it resolved henceforth, that any Graveyard Participant shall be vested with the Right of "Recommendation". Let it be so!

Hello all! This is co-founder @teruneo welcoming ALL applicants looking for their creations to be brought back from the dead!

And why would we do this...? Well, because!

"I'm not dead! ...I don't want to go into the cart!"

And, with nine pence and a little bit of luck - we shall AVERT that death-cart and bring those beautiful living articles the life they deserve! ...so with that said:

Graveyard Announcement!

We are pushing back The Undertaker Awards into next week - partly from wanting a few more submissions, partly from unforeseen circumstances , but entirely because it is in the best interests of all involved... SO if anyone new finds this and would like to nominate their own post(s) OR you found a rather beautiful creation doomed to die an unreasonable death and would be benign enough to nominate them - please bring it to our attention here!

Stay frosty out there amigos!
It's not game over (man!) until Bill Paxton says it is! ;-P

Brilliant! This is a perfect example of something that benefits the steemit community as a whole.

@pierce-the-veil: Thank you @xvickx. Not so shabby yourself there. I really liked your recent post "The Daily Downvote", and feel it will provide value as well. I'm sharing the Link for maximum coverage. https://steemit.com/steemit/@xvickx/the-daily-downvote-we-need-your-help

Yeah!

A really great post!
This is not only a truly original idea but a valuable addition to the Steemit community!
I unfortunately will participate in this as I have had a few "dead posts" that I spent many hours on and are of real value.
SO without further due let me meet the criteria for participation!
First off my user name is @quinneaker
Secondly I have 2 posts of which are very valuable (NO FLUFF) of which didn't make over a dollar. First off is a post I made specifically for NOOBS so as to REALLY enrich the Steemit community by bringing in NEW users that would otherwise not be on Steemit. I have actually already brought over 50 new users to Steemit from FB which if I got credit for (as I should) would really help my Steem Power. The link to that article is here
https://steemit.com/account/@quinneaker/quinneaker
Next is an article that I put forth with GREAT importance which is based on an interview with me and the LEGEND Ron Paul. How many people on Steemit have had an interview with Ron Paul??? Exactly! Yet I got no recognition.
So here is the link for that one https://steemit.com/quinneaker/@quinneaker/ron-paul-interviews-quinn-eaker-after-appalling-black-ops-swat-raid
Again thanks for creating this as I feel it is truly innovative and also very valuable for the greater steemit community!

@pierce-the-veil: Excellent @quinneaker, Criteria Met, TY.
Your posts are treated as equally valued contributions, we will select from one to enter to the running, and it will be enrolled in the running dead.

Results will be chosen on Friday Night, and Shared on Saturday.

In the meantime, make sure to keep an eye on the comments section, as it is an open playing field for generating recognition and upvotes between each commenter.

And as this continues to grow, I am confident we can attract a few dolphin and whale pods to join the running.
(not every whale post is a hit either).

Regards!
@pierce-the-veil

@hrmbean: @pierce-the-veil
Like you I stayed away from social media for a long time.
Also like you, I made a Facebook just so I could make a Steemit account.
And might I add that this sir is a fantastic idea!

There must be hundreds of quality posts that go relatively unnoticed; well NO LONGER I say!
This post sacrilege shall be no more!
I'm definitely going to post some of my poetry for the "Graveyard Edition".

Two Words:
...
FUCK YEAH! :-D

Both @pierce-the-veil and myself were commiserating about the lack of awareness (and thus, monetization) on truly inspiring articles of epic quality and how their demise, unlike their creation, was quick and effortless... We were discussing ways to go about bringing awareness to posts that died, and I joked that we should "Bring Out Yer Dead" ...And the rest, as they say, is now history...

Thank you for co-authoring me in this endeavor Jordan! Hear us, Steemit Community, when I say we will do our absolute best to make sure posts like this one about the most incredibly badass grandma get the notice and recognition they deserve! If it died a premature death, bring it here... and we can scream together in maniacal laughter:

"It's alive! My creation is alive!"

Wow, actually allowed to post a comment with my link for once.

Here's a post I spent possibly over an hour or two writing, which got absolutely nowhere: https://steemit.com/news/@someguy123/are-you-being-watched-the-secret-life-of-your-phone

@pierce-the-veil: Thanks for your submission @someguy123.

Please review the post again for the criteria required. You are missing somethings that need to be included if we are to accept the "dead post" into the running.

Regards,

Jordan

Hi great idea thanks for this! Here is my entry: Tutorial: Markdown Live Previewer, Create your story on the fly!

Thank you for the opportunity to rise again Mwhahahah Evail Laugh!

@pierce-the-veil: Excellent Virtashare, based on our previous exchange and my reading of your post already, you are formally accepted into the running.

Results will be posted on Saturday Night and may include runner up notes if feasible, so nobody is left out.

Ciao!

Thanks much appreciated!

This is a cool idea, have followed you both.

So, my username is @sunjata and I'd like to submit a motivational thing I wrote about using programming concepts to achieve your personal goals.

I liked writing it, and I genuinely believe that those techniques help me get stuff done, and think in a different way about life and being more resilient.

Most of the other stuff on my blog is short fiction, so if you want to check that out, or follow me for updates, I'd be really pleased.

@pierce-the-veil: Excellent @sunjata, We have accepted your post into the running.
Decisions will be made on Fri, results announced on Sat!

Regards,

J

This is an awesome idea! Following you now to keep up on this. Cheers!

Jordan---what a brilliant idea!! But of course!! I see you are stepping right into creating solutions--one of your great fortes!

My name is Shellie, I go by everlove.
Here is the post I'd like to submit https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@everlove/the-profound-nature-of-a-conscious-life-living-in-community

This was my first post introducing myself. I'd like to share this again as I believe community is the wave of the future where we can all benefit one another--and...since few people these days have ever lived in community, my experience may be of value to those who are curious and those who have fears or negative ideas about it.

Glad to participate in this Steemit upgrade!
