Could this be the Largest wind-chime in the world? I have no idea but it is massive.
I photographed this artistic structure yesterday on a trip to Dunstable Downs in the Chiltern Hills just east of Luton for #monochromemonday initiated by @old-guy-photos
It is said that when the wind blows the structure's fins make a chiming sound. It was pretty windy on Sunday and I stood beside it for quite a while. I heard nothing? Maybe it has to really be blowing like gale force or something?
Made from steel it is on the top of the Dunstable Downs which is a great vantage point to enjoy the surrounding landscape. On a clear day you can see for approximately 45 miles to the east, west and northern horizon.
We had a great day out and it is a breathtaking landscape. Have a great week folks.
What a view! It wasn't windy when you were there?
It was pretty windy but probably not windy enough to make it sing? We flew some kites which was fun and watched the gliders from the nearby gliding club. I'll post something about it tomorrow. :)
Could it be that the wind needs to be from a certain direction in order for it to make a sound?
It has fins on all sides so you would think it would sound from any direction.
I'm going back next month and will investigate further.
That would be quite interesting, if it is directional?
At first blush it reminded me of the monolith in 2001 A Space Oddessy
I thought the same thing. It is quite the enigma!
that's really interesting! looks like a music instrument.
it is supposed to sing in the wind, so I suppose it is an instrument of sorts.
It chimes in Dog, Molometer. LOL. You have to bring a pet to the full effect:)To me it looks like a UFO wing:)
That would be a great practical joke.. make a huge wind chime only dogs can hear! :)
:)
The wind was blowing pretty hard so maybe it is for the dogs!? :)
You need to bring a doggy decoder ring:)
Now where did I put that thing :)
That's an astute observation. It could well be a UFO.
An unidentified fecking object
:)
What a monumental eye soar.
Do you mean eye sore! lol it's monumental for sure and rusty.
