I know how frustrating it is to feel like when you take 5 steps forward, then 10 steps back again. Or seemingly you've been sitting at a desk for some time, working at the same set of paper/question/trying to understand or absorb a certain content and progress forward to the other lists of to-dos or just to cover up the syllabus and be prepared for a coming exam.
It feels like you’ve undone and unravelled all the progress you made. It leaves you feeling dejected and discouraged, nothing seems to quite get into your head. But that’s not true.
What you learned when you took those initial 5 steps will guide you in taking your future steps forward.
The 10 steps back are not actually moving you backwards. They are an opportunity, presented to you so that you can reconcile with your trauma (I used to have a fear of seeing lines, literally. I am terrified of foolscap paper and would not even wear any shirt with narrow stripey designs, ok tmi) and re-learn the lessons you haven’t fully grasped.
Progress is not linear, and it is not measured by your destination.
Progress is measured by your determination to pick yourself back up, dust your knees, and go again.
Progress can be seen more than just the academic perspective or career. In my opinion, the progress I share about at the moment extends out to progress to understanding yourself, finding a deeper level and knowing yourself better. Others around you.
Life alone is a lifelong journey you will walk with yourself and taking yourself by the hand through every milestone, then your friends, and loved ones and better so an entire community.
Be kind to yourself today and always. Enjoy life with it's ups and downs:)
