Children are gifts from God, a heritage of the Lord and the fruit of the womb is his reward (Psalm127:3-4).
God on his wisdom planted into children certain important traits that make them unique. Being like a child therefore means going back to reactivate these traits we possessed during childhood and get glued to them.
The first quality (trait)is that, children listen. Children do observe, they are like containers. In their ears, we deposit faith or fear, victory or defeat, motivation or depression. It is rather unfortunate that in the early stages they are unable to push the reject button whenever is introduced.
In Matthew19:14, when the disciples rebuked the children, Jesus said" suffer little children and forbid them not to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of heaven". A pastor's son walked publicly to the alter and committed himself to Christ after listening to his father's sermon. What and who are you listening?
The second quality is that children Learn. Children learn to laugh, criticize, rebel, cooperate take or give through their parents and peers. In the Holy Family Hospital, Berekum where I work, there two Senior House Officers who joined the Medical fraternity due to what they learned from their patents. Both parents are medica doctors and upon interrogation I found out that they all took the interest from their parents. They studied their parents and saw the joy with which they go about their work
In that same vein, we can never stop learning. We have to learn, learn from parents, tutors, peers etc as others also learn from us. Steemit, I know is a platform of learning. Hence let us grab the opportunity and utilize it.
Again, children Lean. Children long for a sigh of strength. They will test every emotional fibre of a parent. Children need their parents around, even though they may not say it.
Children lean on wisdom and experience of parents. They lean on the affection and love of parents and peers as well.
On that same way, we have to lean on the wisdom, experience, affection, love and knowledge of others.
Finally, children, Love. Children are never burdened with the memories of injustices. They are not people-users to climb the "cooperate ladder". They are channels of love. Let us therefore learn from them.
Jesus said unless we are as little children, we will not enter the kingdom of God. I say unless we be like children to listen, learn, lean and love, we can never experience the good things in life.
Therefore be like a child and reactivate the four Ls, (listen, learn, lean and love).
