Do Not Be Trapped By Waiting For Life To Become Too Easy

in #motivation3 days ago

There was a time I wanted to improve my fitness and maybe even build some muscles. But everytime I came back from work, I felt so tired and then I would postpone it to another day. I kept hoping for a "better time" to start the exercises. But to my surprise, weeks passed, months passed, and for almost 1 year, I was postponing it. It was then that it dawned on me that there may not be a "perfect time" to start the exercise. So I decided to begin it even if it was just for a few minutes everyday after work. Over time, I became more fit, I built the muscles I desired, and even my overall health improved. This goes to prove that you do not have to wait until life becomes too easy or perfect before you take a step.

A lot of people delay growth, delay actions, or even responsibilities, simply because they are waiting for life to become easy for them. They will keep telling themselves that they will become more serious when things become comfortable, or that they will start when things calm down, or that they will chase their goals when life will become less stressful. However, they will see themselves trapped in an endless delay. This is because the perfect condition they expect may not come, and the challenges of life may not fizzle away as they expect. In fact, expecting that life will be without challenges may make you to keep waiting in vain. Waiting for perfect condition or perfect time or perfection may become a trap to delay your progress and prevent growth.

By constantly waiting for life to be too easy, it can create endless postponement. The thing that you may not understand is that challenges will always come, there may be distractions, inconveniences, etc. So if you keep waiting for an ideal condition before you take your first step, the step may never come. It may even make you to waste valuable time and opportunities that may come your way. You have to understand that growth does not always happen in perfect conditions, but in imperfect conditions, and taking steps irrespective of the situations.

A lot of the successful people that you know did not wait until life became comfortable or easy for them before they took a step. They conditioned their mind and learned to work in discomfort, through uncertainties and even obstacles. Take the example of Mark Zuckerberg, he did not wait until everything was easy or for the perfect condition before he took a step towards his goal. Right inside his dormitory, he was able to start up something. What he started in the corner of his room is now what we know as Facebook (Meta) and has gone global. If he was waiting for when life will be easy, he may never have started at all.

Difficult season is not a sign for you to give up, rather it should help you to build capacity, strengthen you, and make you to keep going. In fact, it is even part of what should make you stronger. If you get too dependent on comfort, you may struggle to take actions during difficult moments. You will only work when motivated, or when things are going smoothly, or when you feel emotionally ready and energised. But what happens if things do not go as you have thought or expected? This is why your actions should be without recourse to what is happening. The real growth will require consistency even when the situations are not comfortable.

It is worthy to note that life teaches a lot of vital and valuable lessons through challenges. Difficult situations can help you to build patience, confidence, problem-solving skills, emotional strength and even maturity. Trust me, if life were to be as easy as the "bed of roses," there are some qualities that you may never know that you have, and there are things about you that you will not even develop. A lot of the strongest and wisest people, both in this contemporary time and in history, became that way because they learned how to handle challenges and hard times instead of running away from them.

In life, more often than not, progress will not require perfect conditions. In fact, you do not have to figured out every single detail and everything in full before you take your first step. What matters is that you have started. Then with the small consistent steps you take, you will be surprised how you will achieve your goal.
