Do Not Live On Autopilot, Live With Intention

in #motivation2 days ago

A lot of people wake up in the morning, get out of bed, take their bath, leave the house to pursue their daily routines, come back in the evening, get to bed, and repeat the same circle in a monotonous way, without even asking themselves why they do what they do. Some people's life and existence have become battle of survival instead of living to make impact. They just live to work, earn, meet their direct needs, and repeat the same thing over and again. But a point should come when you need to look beyond just survival and begin to search the real reason why you do what you do. This is actually what gives your life a purpose.

What you need to understand is that every action that you take carries potential. The step you take today can either be empty or meaningful depending on the intentions you have behind it. Life is not just about luck or about living the way you like, it is about meaning and purpose. The difference between merely surviving and truly thriving is not about luck, talent, or even background, but about intentionality and clarity. That is, knowing what you are supposed to do, knowing your purpose, having a dream, having a plan, and putting in efforts towards them. When you understand that actions have intentions, you will not take them casually. Not only do they have intentions, but they can alter the course of your life and set a precedence for you.

I remember when I newly entered school some years back, during my first year and part of second year, my life was almost monotonous and predictable. From the lodge, to school, then back to the lodge. It was just like a straight line movement. No social life, no extramural activities. This happened until I asked myself certain questions. I understood that I should not just live myself on an autopilot mode, but I should be intentional and make a difference. I asked myself what I will be remembered of after I have left the school. These questions changed my perspective about life. This was when I decided to come out more. During that period, I made a friend who was going for a particular training, so I joined him for the training, and I acquired a skill in my profession that is still relevant till today. I gained a lot of things.

During my school days, I affected lives positively. I moved from just seeing school as a place of only learning, to also seeing it as a place of impact, as a vehicle to fulfill the demands of humanity. I was also part of a welfare group that helped cared for the academic and other needs of students. When I left the school, I knew that I did not just go there to learn, I also went there to create a positive impact. Adorably, all these did not have negative effect on my academics, as I graduated with honours. Why live your life in an autopilot way when you can be intentional about it and make a difference in life? You will not be remembered by what you have, but by what you have done with what you have.

The moment you discover the true meaning behind your actions, even if it is your daily work, your life will begin to expand. Your work will not just become your source of income, but will become an avenue for growth, to contribute meaningfully, and to add value. Not just about work, even services will become more than just sacrifices. Then the challenges you meet will become more than setbacks, rather they will become teachers to teach you resilience and wisdom. There is nothing that is wasted if your actions are built on intentionality, rather than by chance.

Being intentional about your life does not mean that you have the entirety of your purpose figured out overnight. It actually starts with small reflections. Reflections like asking yourself why you are pursuing that path, or what impact you will create, or what values you can provide, or what legacy you are consciously building, etc. As you take these reflections, you will understand that purpose is not necessarily found in monotonous moments, but by being intentional about your choices, actions, and lifestyle.
