Finding Abundance In Simplicity: Where Less Becomes More

in #motivation2 days ago

One of the things that a lot of people tend to forget about life is that true wealth does not necessarily lie in having more, but actually in needing less. However, in the world we find ourselves now, people are so interested in "getting more, being more, doing more, and owning more." This has made a lot of people believe that happiness lies in having more accumulation, more possessions, more fame, more followers, more recognition, etc. Ironically, the more you chase after the "more," the less fulfilled you might be, and the emptier you feel. The real abundance actually lies in when you have learnt to simplify. Simplicity and contentment.

Just to let you know; simplicity is not synonymous with lack, but it is about clarity. It does not mean denying yourself of joy or happiness, but in discovering what really brings them. Sometimes, it is not about doing everything at the same time, but about knowing where you stand, taking things a step at a time, focusing on what truly matters, then living to fulfil your purpose. If you are eating for example, and you try to put all your fingers inside your mouth or gulp in the whole food at once, you will not enjoy the meal. But when you take the food a-bite-at-a-time, the food will become enjoyable. This also happens in life. Learning to simplify things is a pathway to living a fulfilled life.

Take a look at this - when a glass is full, it cannot take in more water right? This same thing happens to one's life - when they fill their day with so much noise, busyness, and activities, they will not have room for creativity, peace, and growth. There are times that you may just need to let go of things, even some good things, in order to attract better things. Simplicity helps you to focus your attention on what is important and what matters, so as to channel your energy towards the essential things. You have to understand that it is not the amount of your busyness that actually produces success, but doing the essential and the required things. Someone's day can be full of activities, yet producing nothing. This is why you have to matter in what matters.

It is worthy to note that simplicity does not mean living small, rather it is about being intentional about your life. That is, making a choice of quality over quantity. Instead of chasing 10 things all at once, and end up not getting any of them done well, it will be better to focus on the one that you are more passionate about and give it all it takes. In the same way, instead of being friends with a lot of mixed multitude, it is better to connect with a few quality ones that will create positive impact in your life and make you to grow. Channel your time wisely to what really matters and become intentional with the way you live your life.

When you live with simplicity, peace becomes an added advantage to you. Not just peace, but you will also begin to notice beauty even in simple and ordinary things. Things like the smile from a loved one, a piece of advice from someone who cares, the warmth of the sun, the calm satisfaction of doing your best, etc. At this point, you will stop measuring success by your level of possession or how much you have, but by the depth of the life you live, and how you have affected others positively. To live a fulfilled life, you do not need to have the most of everything in life, but just endeavour to make the most of everything you have.

So just take a pause from your daily bustles and ask yourself what you can let go. It can be a habit, an expectation, a fear, or even a possession. The less weight you carry on your shoulders, the farther you will go in life. You will also understand that simplicity is not emptiness, but it is a mark of freedom. The freedom within you that you are not living to impress people, but to express yourself in a better way. This kind of freedom is where abundance hinges on.
