Any good and strong society that you see anywhere came from family. Just to be clear; family is not just a group of people sharing the same roof, but it is more of a foundation of identity, destiny, and values. There are things that you know that if you do, it may harm the image of your family, and by extension, the society, so you should keep off from it. Not because you cannot do it, but for the sake of your family. When you protect your family, you are not only safeguarding the people who you love, but you are also sowing into the future generations and also creating the kind of world you want.

The family is the fundamental unit of any society. This is why, in most villages in this part of the world for example, there is a kind of character that you will exhibit, and they will quickly ask "whose child is this and whose family are they coming from?" Which means that your actions will have a direction impact on your family name. This is part of the reasons you should protect the image of your family. When you build a good family, you are not only raising them for yourself but for the society too, and the world at large. Trust me, a lot of the problems in the world would have been avoided if the families of the perpetrators played their roles well. Whatever good you want in the society will have to be birthed in the family.
You have to learn to protect your home and protect the interest of your family. This goes beyond locking your doors at night or providing financial resources for them. This actually includes creating an atmosphere of love, peace, understanding, and security for them. It also means building trust, creating a sense of value, and building communication in the family. Just to let you know; your home should be the place you feel the safest in the society. If the world becomes too distracting and confusing, you should be able to find safety in your home and not the other way round. This is why you need to model your family and your home after the pattern that you want it to represent.
One of the greatest responsibilities you have is towards your family - to help nurture and ground it in truth, while also driving it by vision. The world may see and applaud your individual achievements, but you should understand that the true success actually begins when your family stands with you, stands strong, holds a certain value, unites, and grows together.
I was once told a particular story of an event that happened many years ago, the story was told by one of my uncles. There was a competition that was organised in the village. The event had participants from all the clans and kindreds in the village. It involved various competition for both the single ladies and single men.
It happened that in one of the events, a competitor came first in the female's category, but something unusual happened. It was discovered that her family had a longstanding case in the palace, which made the grandparents to flee the village many years before that time. So the granddaughter, thinking that everything was normal, participated in the event and won. But when it was discovered, she was disqualified as she lacked moral ground to be in the event. You see, she did not do anything wrong, but a wrongdoing of her family caught up with her. Family plays a very vital role in what you become.

Whatever you do, you should put your family and even the future of the unborn into consideration. There are somethings that can transcend the present generation and even become trans-generational, so be careful of your actions and inactions.
In order to build a good future, you must first protect what actually matters to the present. For example, if you will build a good generation tomorrow, then you have to build the children of today. If you train your children and your wards to be good kids today, they will grow up tomorrow to become good adults, good spouses, good members of the society. The training you give to them are like the seeds you plant into the future. When you teach your children integrity, honesty, diligence, and humility, you are not just building them for the now, but you are getting them ready for the future.
