Hold On To Hope Even When Life Feels Heavy

in #motivation3 days ago

Life may not go in the way you may have desired it to go. There are times when it may look like challenges are overwhelming, and the journey becomes tougher, you may even think that the "light at the end of the tunnel" seems so far. At that time, everything may be pointing out to you to lose your confidence, to begin to question even your very own purpose, or begin to question if things will ever get better. However, it is at this point that hope becomes important and demanded. Trust me, a lot of others have gone through a far more challenging and tougher period than you have even seen, but they still pulled through. Hope does not erase the appearance of darkness, but it helps you to walk through it until the light comes.

There is usually a very tiny voice that whispers to you "keep going" even when going becomes tough - that is the voice of hope. You have to understand that hope does not deny the existence of pain, difficulty, or hard times, but it gives you the strength to face it and to go through it without cracking. Holding on to hope does not mean trying to pretend that everything is fine, but knowing that things will get better. That is, knowing that better days are coming, and that no situation lasts eternal. You may not have gotten to your dream land, but you have obviously left where you use to be. The same hope that brought you this far can still take you all the way through to the end.

One of the things that hope does is that it helps you to stay anchored, which makes you to remain focused to your goal even when things may not be moving as you want. It keeps you going even in the midst of the storm. When you are in the middle of the sea, as a sailor, and you meet the storm, will you just turn your boat and go back? Definitely not. You will simply direct your sail and keep going. You will remind yourself that even in the midst of the storm, you will still arrive at your destination. This is what hope represents. It does not give up at the sight of challenges, rather it goes through them and still becomes victorious. If you face your challenges and go through them, you will be surprised the strength you can wield to go through the toughest of times without cracking.

I once read a story about a kid on board a flight with other passengers. Everything was going well until the flight hit turbulence. It became so strong that everyone was panicking except the little boy. The turbulence lasted a couple of minutes and it was like the longest minutes in the life of the passengers, yet the boy was not disturbed at all. After everything was calm and the plane was brought to calmness, the passenger sitting close to the boy asked him why he was not bothered at all. The response he gave was so adorable, he said "the pilot is my dad, and he knows that I am on board, so he will not crash the plane." The boy already built his hope that he would get to his destination safely because his father is the one flying the plane. His hope was not shaken even when the plane was shaking.

It is also worthy to note that while holding on to hope, your perception matters. Just like the little boy shifted his focus from the storm to the pilot flying the plane. When challenges come, you can shift your mind to focus on the solution instead of the problem. What you look at will determine how you act. Of course, sight and action are mutually related. If you focus on what is not working, you will lose interest in life and will not see what is working. But when you focus on the good and positive things of life, you will have hope that better things are coming, and you will get the motivation to keep going.

You also need to know that holding on to hope will also require you to be surrounded by the right person. Who you have around you will determine if you will have hope or not. Everyone you meet will have an effect on you. If they are not helping you to build hope, then they may already be destroying the little hope you have. Stay with people who will make you to see positivities in life, not those that will always tell you about negativities.

Peace on y'all
