Keep Doing It To Become It

in #motivation2 days ago

Greatness is not a result of what you do just once. It is actually a pattern, not a single event. You do not build success in just one dramatic occurrence, but in your repeated actions over time. This is why it is said that "you will eventually become what you repeatedly do." Everything you do daily, including your habits, are part of what shapes your future self. Doing even small thing regularly, and taking daily small positive steps are worth more than waiting for a massive stride. If you want to achieve greatness, then you will have to keep taking positive steps towards your goal.

Success and greatness do not happen by accident, they are resultant effects of the actions and habits you have done repeatedly. Your habits are like vote. In an election for example, a single vote may look insignificant, but the collection of like votes will bring about the win. Similarly, your habits may look insignificant, but when they are repeated over time, they become instrumental to creating the kind of future that you want. If you choose to read a book for example, what you have done is that you have voted to become more knowledgeable. If you exercise your body, you have voted to become more healthy. If you make a choice to learn a skill, then you have voted to gain mastery. You see, your actions and your habits are votes towards the kind of future that you desire.

A lot of people are wishing for a sudden breakthrough in their lives. What they do not understand is that what they need is constant, consistent, and positive repetition. If you want to become confident, learn to consistently place yourself in a situation that stretches you. If you want to become more disciplined, then you have to repeatedly respect your commitments. Then if you want to grow in kindness, then you have to learn to consistently choose patience and understanding. Anything you want to achieve will place certain demands on you, and one of the demands is the demand of consistency.

It is worthy to note that repetition builds strength. As an athlete for example, you do not build your strength by lifting weight just once, but you build it by lifting it consistently and constantly. As a student, you do not succeed in your academics by reading just once, but you have to read often and have a studious lifestyle. The more you do a thing, the better you become at it, and before you know it, it will become part of you. Even building a good character will require you to repeatedly make good choices. You have to understand that what makes you who you are and ultimately creates your future is not what you do just once, but what you do over and again.

One of the things that I have learnt over time is that small actions matter greatly. You do not even need to make some massive overnight changes, just the small daily actions can be all you may need to achieve success. For example, reading a chapter of a book daily can make you well-read in a year. Practising a particular skill for 40 mins each day can turn you from an amateur to an expert with time. The power you can pull from repetitive actions is so much that it can turn ordinary efforts into extraordinary results. You may not even have had a fair start, and you may not have had privileges, but as long as you have a willingness to make the right choices, then you can turn things around.

Each day you live will offer you opportunities to repeat an action that aligns with the result you want to obtain. When you take advantage of this opportunity, you will not just achieve the desired result, but you will become a testament of the result yourself. Always remind yourself that you are not limited by the point at which you started, rather you are shaped by what you constantly do. This means that it is not necessarily your background or your starting point that ultimately defines your end-result, even though it might have a little part to play. But what ultimately determines you end-result is the process, and what you do over and again.
