Some people just wait for things to happen for them on their own accord, but they tend to forget that they can actually make things happen. Instead of waiting to get to the end of the tunnel to see the light, why not take your own light with you? The kind of change you are hoping for, you can actually create it. There are some solutions that you need that are just within your reach, but you just have to make a move to create them. You have to understand that, in more cases than not, nothing moves until it is made to move. So the light you are hoping to find, you have a responsibility to create it. If you want it, then create it.

There was this friend of mine who is a computer programmer and software engineer, who shared with me his story of how everything began. A few years back, he dreamt of becoming a programmer, but there was no training centre in his neighbourhood. And his parents could not afford private tutor and other expensive classes. What he did was to start learning from free online materials using his small android phone, then he would visit the café to practise. Luckily, he connected with a guy who has a desktop computer at home. So he would get the free online materials, go to the guy's house, and both of them would practise. Sometimes he would pass the night there, and learn almost throughout the night.
This thing continued for about 6 months, and he would go there about 3 times a week. Each time with fresh materials from online and both of them would practise. After about 6 months, they became skilled enough to apply for an online gig. The first one they got was not too big, but it was a starting point. They felt so happy that they finally got a reward for their hard work. But much more than that, it marked the beginning of their career. They later went on to bid for a government design programme, and luckily they got it. It was the turning point in their lives. At the moment, they are working with the government as software consultants. This was possible because he created his own path instead of just waiting for things to happen for him.
There are times when life may present to you moments of uncertainties. At those points, people may feel confused, stuck, or even discouraged because things are not going the way they had initially hoped for. When this happens, a lot of people will simply wait for circumstances to improve or for someone to give them guidance. They even expect light to appear at the end of the tunnel even before they take any step. What they fail to understand is that progress in life rarely comes from those who only sit and wait. Real progress comes when you have made up your mind to bring your own light inside the tunnel.
Imagine walking through a dark tunnel without any light, it is a very unwelcoming feeling. But on the same hand, standing there and waiting for daylight to shine through the end of the tunnel might make you to wait for so long. But if you carry your own torch or a lantern, you will be able to find your way through. No matter the size of the light you take, it is still better than none, because it will help you to avoid obstacles, and will also help you to move forward. In the same way in life, things will become easier and better when you choose to create the help you need from within instead of waiting for external help.

A lot of the successful people you see today were able to achieve success, not because they had the perfect condition, but because they chose to act even when the conditions do not look perfect. They do not wait for people to encourage or motivate them before they made a move towards their dream. They took the first step from where they were and with what they had, with the hopes that their efforts will yield results or lead them to opportunities.
By lighting your own path, you have a clear sense of purpose. When you know what you want to achieve, it will become easier for you to keep going even when you encounter difficulties or obstacles. It is your goal that will provide direction for you and makes you to stay on course on what truly matters. If you do not have a clear goal, you may become demotivated or distracted. So having a clear goal is like the light you shine on your own path.
