More often than not, passion is what drives one towards what they want to achieve. As a matter of fact, without passion, there will be nothing to provide the fuel for your ambition. This is why I believe that passion and ambition are mutually inclusive. Which means that the presence or appearance of one will be a trigger for the other. So the first step towards achieving your dream is to be passionate about it. This is also part of the reasons why it is always advisable to create a dream that you are passionate about, because you will not have difficulty putting actions into it.
I watched a media interview of one of the world's most celebrated footballers some weeks back and how he answered some pertinent questions. A particular question got my attention. He was asked if he would still continue to play the game of football even if he was not being paid for it (note that he is currently among the highest paid footballers in the world). He responded in the affirmative and even went further to say that he is passionate about football and has never played because of money. His passion was actually what drove him into football. No wonder he is putting his entire soul into building up himself and training.
You will agree with me that you tend to enjoy more and feel the zeal to do what you are passionate about than what you are forced to do. The reason why a lot of people do not achieved their goal is because they have not backed up the goal with passion or rather, they are not doing something they are passionate about. It is worthy to note that career is very different from passion. Someone might be engaged in a career which they are more or less forced to do without having passion for it and it will show in the end result.
While growing up, there was this friend of mine whose parents were lawyers and so they also chose a career for him; law. Even when he he tried to explain to them that law is not what he wants to study, yet they insisted. Well, just to be obedient, he want ahead and studied law after finishing from his secondary school. He got his law degree and handed it over to his parents and told them that he has fulfilled their demands. They were surprised at their son's actions, but he went further to tell them that he had always wanted to be an artist.
He enrolled into the school of Fine and Applied Art where he studied painting and sculpture. During the course of his studies, he was involved in many art exhibitions and even before he graduated, he was already perfecting the art of painting. Fast-forward to this point, he owns one of the most visited and biggest art galleries in the city. This is because he put in his entire being into it and his passion drove him to blaze new trails in the art world. This is a practical example of how passion can drive someone towards achieving their dreams.
However, there is something you also need to know. Passion has to be backed up quickly by relevant actions in order to fulfil the purpose. The key word here is "quickly." If you do not take swift actions towards what you are passionate about, you may stand the risk of losing the passion. Of course, there is a natural tendency or proclivity for passion to dwindle if you remain docile without following it up with actions. Inaction is one of the single most destroyer of passion.
Take your mind back to when you were little and the passions you had then, have you fulfilled all of them? Are you still passionate about them? You will discover that you have lost passion in some of them. This is because complementary actions were not taken towards them at the right time.
It is one thing to be passionate about something, but it is a different thing to follow it up with action. Passion can be seen as a seed and the hopes of getting harvest. But the pathway towards getting the seed to produce harvest is by planting it. What planting does to a seed is what action does to passion. Always remember that your dreams will not fulfil themselves until you act towards them.

This is so inspiring. I think I'm part of those people that are not so sure of what their passion is and it worries me a lot that I'm feeling relaxed about it. Indeed without passion, it is hard to give your all to something.
