Rising Up From The Ashes

in #motivation7 hours ago

If life knocks you down, it does not mean that you are knocked out, you have to bounce back and keep moving. I used to hear people say that "what does not kill an individual will be part of what will make the person stronger." This is true, but it is not easy. If you see yourself going through dark times, like losing a job, losing a relationship, going through an emotional pain, etc, you will understand how difficult it is. Sometimes it may want to break you, shake your confidence, and leave you empty. But the truth is that whatever happens, you can still bounce back up from it. This is the "comeback" effect.

I once read the autobiography of J.K Rowling and I got so much inspiration and insight from it. She passed through dark and difficult times. In her twenties, her marriage crashed and she left with her little daughter. She was living in a very tiny apartment and surviving from government welfare, while raising her daughter all by herself. At that point in her life, she was so depressed that she was almost viewing herself as a complete failure. Yet, in that dark moments of her life, she realised something. She realised that her biggest fear had already happened, so she did not have anything again to lose. The only thing she had was her life, the love from her daughter, and her old typewriter.

With that, she was able to pick the pieces of her life. What she passed through may have destroyed her old self, but it also gave her the opportunity to focus on one thing that truly mattered to her, which was writing. That was how she wrote the story of Harry Potter, which grew to become a household name. It has also been used to act movies, which gained a lot of popularity. You see, she did not just survive through her dark times, but she also used it to build a completely new version of herself. In one of her interviews, she said that the failures she saw in her life removed all the unimportant things in her life, and gave her the solid foundation to build a better life for herself. She literally rose from ash to glory.

There are some breakdowns that might set the pace for some major breakthroughs in your life. When this breakdown happens, it may shake the way you think, act, and live, and may even make you to feel broken, thinking that all is lost. But you should look beyond all that, and look at the opportunity presented right before you. When an old wall collapses, for example, you do not go patching it, you will decide how it will be built, and you will build it stronger than it was. This is what happens when your life looks like it is broken, it will give you the opportunity to build up yourself and become better than you were. More so, it will also give you the experiences that you need to become wiser, stronger, and better.

When you fight your way through the dark times of your life, there are aspects of your life that will grow. Firstly, it gives you closer relationships. Hard times has a way of filtering your social circle, and helps you to know who your real friends are. The people who stood by you through the trying times will tell you who really means well for you. More so, difficult times also make you more empathetic. This is because you have felt pain, so you will better understand the struggles that others are passing through. Secondly, difficult times also helps you to set your priorities aright. A major struggle can shift your attention from what you value. The things that used to stress you, like arguments, etc, will begin to matter less to you. You will begin to focus on what matter more, like on your true purpose, on your family and loved ones, and on your health.

When you have survived the dark times of your life, your fear of the future will diminish. You will look at new challenges and tell yourself that if you were able to overcome the past ones, you will definitely overcome the present ones. This will help you to build your confidence, and will also make you a better human.
