What you want to see tomorrow will determine how you live your life today. I remember many years ago, when I entered the secondary school, the school's Guardian and Counsellor had a meeting with the newly admitted students to motivate us. In one of her speeches, she said that "what you want to achieve academically tomorrow will start by your preparations today." That is, if you want success, you have to take your studies seriously from day one. I realised that the future is only prepared for those who have prepared for it today. As a matter of fact, you cannot feature effectively in the tomorrow that you have not planned for today. It is your preparation that turns even the usual moments into opportunities.

It is true that every great achievement starts with a vision, but it will only become a reality when you have planned for it. Just to let you know, the future does not answer to mere thinkers, but to the people who prepare for it. In the world of academics for example, as a student, you do not pass an exam by wishing for it, rather you pass by preparing extensively for it, and by studying well for the exam. In the same way in life, things do not just happen because you want them to happen, rather you make things to happen by working them out yourself. You do not wait for tomorrow to deliver opportunities to you, rather you create the opportunity you want, or at least, be ready to take on opportunities as they come.
You have to understand that tomorrow belongs to the planners and the doers. That is, the people who look beyond today and prepare for what lies ahead. Just to let you know, planning for tomorrow is not just about writing down your goals or your targets, but it includes creating the roadmap. When you have prepared for your tomorrow, you take control of it, and can feature well in it. You will agree with me that you are more likely to do well in what you are prepared for, and your confidence will also be boosted, than when you are not prepared. Your preparedness helps you to anticipate challenges before they come, and makes you to get the solutions ready.
A lot of the people you see as "lucky" are not different from you. What makes the difference is that their preparation meets opportunity and something amazing is produced. Okay I ask you; if what you are wishing for - maybe a dream job, an opportunity, a chance at doing something, etc, is delivered to you, how prepared are you to make the most of it? Imagine someone wishing to be called to the National League to represent the country in the U-17 football tournament, but he cannot kick the ball, how will he even perform? Some people have not achieved a level of success that is required of them, not because they lack opportunities, but because they are not even prepared for the opportunity.

It is worthy to note that it is what you do today and how you live that will determine how your tomorrow will be. You cannot get result from where you have not put in anything. A farmer for example, will not go into a farm and expect to start harvesting fruits that he has not planted, otherwise he will be charged with theft. If he wants fruits in the future, then he has to plant the seeds in the present. In the same way, if you want to succeed in life and to actualise your goal, then you have to put in work - which includes learning, preparation, discipline, and determination. The steps you take today in the line of your dream is like a seed that you sow into the future.
One of the things that I have discovered about planning is that it also brings focus. If you do not have a plan of what you want to do, you can be easily distracted and may spend your whole time doing nothing. Just know that time is already going, so you need to take a step today to create the kind of tomorrow that you want.
