Three Things That Do Not Mix: Success, Comfort Zone, And Fear

in #motivation2 days ago

It is true that everyone desires success, but the question is, are they willing to pay the price for it? There is usually a price to pay if you must qualify to receive the prize. Why some people have not achieved success is not because they do not desire it, but because they want ro mix comfort zone and fear with it. What they fail to understand is that they cannot mix together. If you hold on to comfort zone and fear, then you stand the risk to lose out of success. The people who have succeeded in various fields of life have, at some points in their life, taken risky steps, moved out of familiar terrain, did what looked scary. Trust me, success does not come by mere cheap talk, but by sacrifices.

Just to let you know, your comfort zone is just like a place of familiarity. It is literally where things feel safe, easy and predictable. I am not saying that comfort zone is bad, but the problem is to allow it to cage you, or to prevent you from moving forward. Some people have been so used to a particular lifestyle or a routine, that they do not want to try out something new, so they become limited. Trust me, growth rarely happens in comfort. If you must succeed, then you should be ready to move, and sometimes, the movement might feel uncomfortable. If you get used to staying where everything feels easy, then you will not see the need to take risks, which will also limit your growth and your success.

Then talking about fear. Fear is just like the emotions that try to keep you "safe," but it achieves that by stopping you from taking risks. It will tell you "what if you take this step and it turns out bad?" Or "what if your action goes south?" Some people have been stuck at a place for years, or at a level for so long, simply because they fear stepping out. Fear of the unknown, fear of failure, and fear of making mistakes are among the most common types of fears that limit people by subtly suggesting to them that it is better to stay where they are than to make a wrong move.

But the truth is, success actually lives far above your comfort zone, and far above fear too. In order to achieve success, you have to first confront your fears, then step out of what you are comfortable with. Trying to achieve success, yet holding on to fear and being in your comfort zone, is like trying to move forward, yet having your shoes glued to the ground. The truth is that if you want to break limits, then you have to intentionally and consciously move out of your comfort zone. This is reality.

The people you see as successful today also faced this reality at some point. They did not achieve success by just sitting and wishing for it, rather they took the necessary and required steps for it. They acted irrespective of fear, and they had to choose between remaining in their comfort zone and growing. Trust me, you will experience fear at some points, but you should not allow fear to hold you down from acting. Even while taking steps, you may also be faced with uncertainties, criticisms, and even rejection, but even in all these, do not allow fear to control your decisions.

If you want success, then you have to be ready and willing to get uncomfortable. You will also be willing to learn new things, take new step, and may even fail in the process, but it will make you to learn and grow. Breaking out of your comfort zone is not convenient, but it is a necessity if you want to achieve success. To break out of your comfort zone, you can start by taking small steps. You do not have to make it a giant stride at the beginning. You can start by doing something that challenges you everyday, take tasks that you have not done before, learn a new skill. All these may look small, but what you have to understand is that each small step you take will weaken your fears and build your confidence.
