Yesterday while I was having lunch I was watching the film Brexit on HBO, a film that allows us to go through every step in detail, every maneuver and every decision that led to the approval of England's exit from the European Union, a process that was manipulated by all sides through synchronized and coordinated strategies where those involved used dozens of data collection tactics digitally to know the correct way to deal with all this issue as important as the exit of such a large and important country from the European Union.

The plot of the film lets us see how a brilliant genius expert on elections and electoral strategies could masterfully orchestrate and launch a campaign aimed at manipulating the thinking of those undecided voters who generally tended to abstain from participating in all kinds of elections. Basically this film unmasks all the strategies that a determined man used to win one of the most important elections in England, a man who decided to use digital sectoring maneuvers that allowed him to discover what people thought and above all what they wanted to hear. The film takes us on a guided tour where we see the dozens of peculiar tactics that those in favor of leaving the European Union used to win, extreme tactics that as the one in charge of everything said, "were designed to brainwash voters".

The whole film unfolds at a tremendous pace where we see those in favor and those against leaving the European Union running around trying to destabilize others, but above all looking for ways to get more support for their cause. The plot and the fabulous performances of the characters are complemented by the use of real material that puts us more in perspective when analyzing the political and social escalation that was built around a decision as important as the one that England made, a decision that apart from not revealing apparent immediate consequences, will change the future of a country immense in terms of its history.

One of the coolest things about this film is the way it lets us see the way each side used to gather information, one side using focus groups while the other based its entire operation on the interaction of people on social networks, something that allowed them to have a broad spectrum of data on people's behaviour in certain scenarios, something that undoubtedly comes very close to the tactics used by American candidates when organizing and focusing their campaigns towards victory, and well something that we saw triumph once again here, something that shows us that everything we see regularly in the networks has a concrete purpose.

I loved the film because besides showing us everything behind those gigantic election campaigns it also allows us to explore the behavior of ordinary people in the face of manipulations set in motion to change their thinking, tactics that subtly become embedded in our minds to finally make us take a particular decision. The film gives us wonderful performances such as Benedict Cumberbatch who becomes a bold, intelligent and risky man responsible for ensuring the decision to leave the European Union was carried out until the end, a man who using few conventional means manages to manipulate a large part of a country to do what he and so many others longed for years, undoubtedly one of the best and most outstanding performances of this actor who made me forget completely his interpretation as Dr. Strange, yes, the performance is so different that not even for a second did I remember seeing a UCM character.
In general, an entertaining, dramatic and very informative film, a film that wonderfully clarifies the tactics used in a very important election for England, a film that brings us closer to understand the functioning of world politics, through perfectly calibrated scenes to convey all that anguish created around an election process.
