Introducing Serbia to Steemit; #Serbiaweek; Day 5: Serbian Music Festivals

These kind of events gather both Serbs and people from all over the world. Music festivals make us feel like we are all one person. The spirit and the atmosphere is fantastic. I decided to put some of the main music festivals in Serbia, but you have to have in mind that there's a lot of them, for everybody's ears :))

  • ARSENALL FEST

Arsenal Fest is an annual summer music festival in Kragujevac. It is staged since 2011. in late June and it lasts for 3 days. The visitors of Arsenal Fest with tickets also have a possibility of having accommodation in the festival camp named "Arsenal Rock Camp" which is situated near the main city stadium "Čiča Dača".

  • BELGRADE BEER FEST

Belgrade Beer Fest is a festival of beer in Belgrade. Started in 2003. the festival is held annually over 4 to 5 days as a showcase event for various beer producers. In addition to domestic and foreign brews, the festival features live music performances each evening. In 2009. it attracted more then 650 000 visitors and in 2010. the festival attracted about 900 000 visitors. The festival entrance is free.

  • BELGRADE MUSIC FESTIVAL

Founded in 1969. the Belgrade Music Festival - BEMUS is the oldest and the most prominent music festival in Serbia and one of the most distinctive classical music festivals in the South-Eastern Europe. BEMUS has been member of the European Festivals Association since 2002.

  • EXIT

Exit is an award-winning summer music festival which is held at the Petrovaradin Fortress in the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. It was officially proclaimed as the 'Best Major European festival' at the EU Festival Awards, which were held in Groningen in January 2014, while its sea edition Sea Dance festival won the "Best Mid-Sized European festival" Award in 2015. The EU Festival Award is considered as one of the most prestigious festival awards in the world. The festival was founded in 2000. in the University park as a student movement, fighting for democracy and freedom in Serbia and the Balkans. After the Yugoslavian general election in 2000, Exit moved to the Petrovaradin fortress in 2001. Nonetheless, social responsibility is still key aspect of the festival activities. Exit has won the 'Best Overseas Festival' award at the UK Festival Awards in 2007, 'Best Major Festival Award' in 2013. and was ranked one of the 10 best major festivals at European Festivals Awards 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 and one of the 10 Best Overseas Festival at UK Festival Awards 2013. Exit has gained international media attention over the years. The International edition of CNN, CNN World Fiesta, featured an article on music festivals in the beginning of June 2011, which included Exit on the list of nine best festivals in the world. The Guardian declared Exit as the best festival in the world in 2006. and the best tourist destination in 2008. and many others.

  • GITARIJADA

Gitarijada is a musical festival held in Zaječar, Serbia. Held since 1966, Gitarijada is one of the longest lasting festivals in Serbia and in South Eastern Europe and the largest festival of young and unaffirmed bands in South Eastern Europe. Apart from the competition of unaffirmed bands from the region of former Yugoslavia, the festival program includes performances of established acts.

  • GUČA TRUMPED FESTIVAL

The Guča Trumped Festival, also known as the Dragačevski Sabor is an annual brass band festival held in the town of Guča, near the city of Čačak, in the Dragačevo region of western Serbia. Guča is a three-hour bus ride from Belgrade. 600,000 visitors make their way to the town of 2,000 inhabitants every year, both from Serbia and abroad. Elimination heats are held earlier in the year and only a few dozen bands qualify to compete. Guča's official festival has three parts, Friday's opening concert, Saturday night's celebrations and Sunday's competition. The Friday's concerts are held at the entrance to the official Guča Festival building. This event features previous winners, each band getting to play three tunes while folk dancers, all kitted out in bright knitting patterns, dance kolos and oros in front of a hyped-up audience.
This is one of the craziest festivals in Serbia. Wonder why? :D

  • LOVEFEST

Lovefest is held in Vrnjačka Banja, It is founded in 2007. and 2013. it was nominated for the Best European Festival. Since 2012, the festival has been expanded to nine new zones, such as Photo, Cinema, Graffiti, Chill, Eco, Workshop, Street Basket, Extreme and Kids Zone, which aims to motivate and support young people's art and culture as well as youth activism in central Serbia.

  • NIŠVILLE

Nišville is an annual summer music festival in the Ancient Fortress of Niš, Serbia. From the festival’s very beginning, its concept has been based on presenting the ‘traditional’ jazz forms together with their fusion with the ethnic tradition from the different parts of the world, especially from the Balkans.
