Back in my teenage years when I was too young and broke to drink beer or wine as often as I do now (I got never trapped by shots) I was wandering around and in French-like cafés, sipping dark coffee (it’s cheaper than with milk, you know), tea (cos’ you can sip it much longer than espresso) or beer (in the lucky days when nobody cared about my age). I pretended there that I was older and much wiser than I actually was. And it sometimes worked.
Such places always lure rain dogs like unacknowledged artists, wannabe intellectuals, the true intellectuals and students who search for something that differs them to the others. I still love those places although I am not student any more. I pretend there that I am younder and much wiser then I actually am. And it sometimes works.
Once, I met the doomed prophet, the oracle of tender prays. You cannot resist someone who is far beyond your mind.
Among the other musicians and writers, Nick Cave taught me English. And like many others I followed him on his path beginning deep in the old testament times, where he hung around as a storyteller of despair, towards his own testament of love and mercy. On the way we all wept by the water unable to cross it ourselves…
We, or at least I, met the visions of men’s souls torn away of bodies and forced to reveal their inner thoughts. Like those of Henry’s dreams.
We let the love in. That was pleasant by the way. Murders sang their ballads. We agreed that no more shall we part… and we parted later on anyway.
But the keen thing is that we can push the sky away. When we really want to.
Nick Cave is sixteen sixty this Semtember. Quite hard to believe for me.

Kdybych byl Nick Cave, pojmenoval bych svou kapelu The Caveman
Snad jednoho dne se (jako správný Griderman) rozhodne rozemlít The Bad Seeds. A pak... Kdo ví.
Kdysi v letech náctiletých, kdy jsem byl příliš mladý a bez peněz než abych pil pivo a víno tak často, jako dnes (nikdy mě nezlákaly panáky), potuloval jsem se kolem kaváren lehce francouzského stylu. A v nich. Usrkával jsem černou kávu (je levnější než s mlékem, že), čaj (ten se totiž dá srkat déle než presso) nebo pivo (v ty šťastné dny, kdy se nikdo nestaralo můj věk). Předstíral jsem, že jsem starší a mnohem chytřejší, než jsem doopravdy byl. A občas to fungovalo.
Taková místa vždycky přitahovala vandráky jako jsou neznámí umělci, rádoby intelektuálové, skuteční intelektuálové a studenti, kteří pátrají po něčem, co by je odlišilo od ostatních. Tahle místa stále miluju, i když už nejsem student (ale zase budu). Předstírám, že jsem mladší a mnohem chytřejší než doopravdy jsem. A občas to funguje.
Jednou jsem tam narazil na zavrženého proroka, věštce něžných kořistí (Tender Preys). Nemůžete vzdorovat někomu, kdo vaši mysl takhle převyšuje.

Spolu s dalšími muzikanty a spisovateli mě Nick Cave učil anglicky. A jako mnozí jiní, následoval jsem ho i já na jeho pouti počínající hluboko v časech Starého zákona, kde se potuloval jako vypravěč příběhů zoufalství, a směřující k jeho vlastnímu zákonu lásky a soucitu. Cestou jsme ronili slzy u řeky, neschopni ji sami překročit...

Potkali jsme, nebo alespoň já, vize lidských duší vyrvaných z těl a přinucených odhalit své nejniternější myšlenky. Jako ty z Henryho snů.

Nechali jsme vejít lásku. To bylo mimochodem příjemné. Vrazi zpívali své balady. A souhlasili jsme, že už bychom se nikdy neměli opustit. A pak jsme se stejně opustili.
Ale to hlavní je, že můžeme pohnout nebem. Když opravdu chceme.

Well written mate, also love all the work Nick does, he is awesome person, although I don't listen to his music that often now...
