The super power of the ear

What is the absolute ear?

All life musicians have been considered (especially those who study classical music) as people with a hearing that goes beyond normal; and it really makes sense, as they always pass by playing an instrument or singing, they are indirectly subjected to a constant practice of auditory recognition. This brings as a consequence to recognize sounds, and to be able to detect sounds, or to try to detect sounds simply with the memory that they have left of their indirect practices; and as everything in this world is different, there are people to whom it is difficult to recognize these notes much less than to others; but, what happens with people who take very little time of practice and already manage to do this without even making an effort?

This rare ability is known as, "PERFECT PITCH ", and its counterpart is the "RELATIVE PITCH ".

The absolute ear is nothing more and nothing less than a person's ability to identify a note without having another reference, literally remember the sounds and are recorded in the temporal plane of their brain and thus are able to recognize sounds in a very simple way. Normally this capacity is known in children who have it when they begin to develop their musical studies, professionals realize that they have it as they progress in their studies, however, you could have absolute hearing and never know if you do not develop the musical part, despite having this coveted ability, training is required to get the maximum potential.

Well, now that it is the relative pitch, this is the capacity that normally all people can develop with an exhaustive continuous practice, and it is simply the capacity that one has to recognize the distances between the notes (intervals), although not the capacity to recognize which are these notes specifically. Despite they do not have the ability to recognize notes, through practice and experience it is possible at some point to recognize them moderately, although never as someone with absolute hearing.

In summary, the relative pitch in a certain part is also possessed by the person who has the perfect pitch, but practically in music the relative ear is the base, having the perfect pitch is practically genetic luck, it has been possible to determine a statistic that only 1 of every 10000 people possesses the perfect pitch and it is presumed that in Asia there are more than 50% of possibilities of possessing it, because the Asian languages have many tonal variations, since there are many words that mean one or another thing depending on which tone you say it.

Here is a photo of the temporal plane of a person with perfect pitch and one with relative pitch.

To finish, I just want to add that we can all be musicians, it is a global art and even if you do not study music it is always with you and will be with you, you simply can not live or run away from it, so I recommend that you understand, and you will see that you will enjoy it even more.
