Now we're onto a different vibe. A spicy catchy vibe with Kali and Steve.
Kali Uchis - Just a Stranger feat. Steve Lacy
Kali Uchis, 24, was born in Columbia. Learned about music production and video editing in high school and developed a saucy sounding R&B vibe. In 2012 she released her first album Drunken Babble. In this album you'll find Kali inspired by some off beat reggae and jazz. She shows talent with this one. But seems like an underground crowd would be the minority listening.
The song Never Be Yours with the old school funky jazz sample is my favorite from the album
In 2014 she collaborated with the blunt rolling king Snoop Dogg himself. Snoop drops a nice verse for this song
Por Vida became her first EP and she ended up working with artists like Alex Epton, Diplo, Tyler, the Creator, Kaytranada, and BadBadNotGood. Not a bad line up.
In 2015 she went on tour with Leon Bridges. A great snag for her. Leon is fantastic. Will have an story dedicated for him soon here on SCRAPED.
Now she's worked with Steve Lacy to produce the banger featured here today from her album Isolation. She has more fantastic features like Vince Staples. Check it out
