Sort:

a country can be said to be a democratic country if it contains 4 characteristics,

-first is the existence of a fair electoral mechanism so as to enable the public to vote or change his government.

-second, the active participation of citizens in politics.

-Third, protection of human rights.

-Fourth, everyone's equality is in the eyes of the law.

All developed countries on this earth use a democratic system so that we can draw conclusions that there is something behind democracy that triggers or at least become a container that makes progress in a country more likely to be achieved.

because democracy is only a tool that makes people have the opportunity to choose the best candidates, provide opportunities to supervise and criticize elements in government, and provide an opportunity for people to ask for transparency and provide an opportunity for people to "punish" the party or someone who is corrupt or incompetent by not having it anymore. these opportunities are generally not available in non-democratic systems.

For a country that knows how to handle democracy yes it is. I live in an ex-communist country and I can tell you that after the fall of the Communist regime and it's leader, Nicolae Ceausescu, we as people have more freedom than during his reign, business were possible after the so called "revolution", while before it everything belonged to the state, but salaries and the wealth of the whole country was affected.

I guess that almost all of the people couldn't take much longer under the regime, but didn't knew what to do with the democracy either. Lots of the factories were closed and sold for nothing, while people got unemployed or working for foreign companies for cheap wages while just a handful of people took the strings of power into their hands and businesses.

Democracy means definitely freedom, but only in the hands of the people who know what to do with it, otherwise it's just modern slavery.

Democracy is best for countries in outside the Africa continent but for Africa, its never the best because democracy has been comprised.

My country is a good example where on election day the government buys votes. People selling their right to good government in exchange of cash.

The best thing fit for Africa is Self- Rule.

Yeah it is if the country's democracy is a fair one.

I will do say that democracy is the best form or government out there. The masses have the opportunity and privilege to vote for who they so desire and the government can't force a rule on the citizens without an opposition unlike the military

The only disadvantage democracy can have is when the system of government is a corrupt and the choice of leaders of the citizens/masses are not the ones being elected.

I think that democracy can be define in soo many ways that a country should not give up its traditions to follow the ways others country apply their conception of democracy.  The real challenge is to share the knowledge that will free people from ignorance. Even in the most advance democratic regime the lack of knowledge lead to crisis and injustice.

I think it's true because democracy is a government that all citizens have the same rights and freedoms in making decisions that can change their lives towards a better one. This system is very appropriate to be used in a country because democracy implies an appreciation of human dignity.

Yes democracy is the best option
