My first camping trip
I'm more of a city girl I've lived in LA growing up then we moved to Phoenix Arizona when I was 15. I had never been camping. My parents didn't take us camping when I was little we jus did other trips .. Disneyland, the beach, Mexico
I had a fear of camping ⛺️
Mountains and dirt roads
My boyfriend grew up camping with his dad and his friends.
So our first time camping we went to rio verde. They have hot springs there and we camped right by the river. Nudity is prohibited 🚫 but we did meet some naked free spirited people. Must be very common there since they seem to be regulars at that spot. Very friendly people, in fact they still Facebook me to let me know they are going camping there.
A hike a way is the hot springs and far up it's the water fall. We went to the hot springs .
The verde hot springs hotel and was opened from 1922-1962 according to this wall
There is only one road down and
It is said that el Capone would go hideout there. Since there was only one way down he would be able to see police on their way. I'm not sure if it's true but this is a story my boyfriend told me when we were there and sounded cool ! Lol
This is a natural hot spring pool, water temperature is about 98 degrees. As you can see several people fit in here. It's deep I couldn't touch floor and of course I didn't submerge my head in there to try. It's what's left of the resort and the best, in my opinion because it overlooks the river. It was about a mile away from where we camped. Best at night (I've heard) I was already passed out by the time people hiked down there again.
This is a little bath room behind me
This is boyfriend and yager . Yager is the only dog in planet that doesn't like water .
We had to cross the river and he wouldn't do it so he had to carry him across.
We had a lot of fun we went in August hottest times of the year. Monsoon season😬 so to me, it was very scary. I can't wait to go here again I think I would explore more . Now that I'm more used to the outdoors I think it would be funner. The road here is very rough you definitely must have a high car because it's rocky. We took my Honda Civic and it was terrible. The road down is very scary and because if the popularity of oak creek and it's waterfall there's always a lot of people going down there. They now require people to buy a pass and its good to call ahead to make sure road not closed.
It was definitely a good trip for us
Do you guys know of any good places to camp in AZ?
What are your best camping memories?
