American Eskimo Dog (Toy) is known for its bright white coat, jet black points (lips, nose and eye rims) and erect triangular ears.

American Eskimo Dog (Toy) History
The Toy American Eskimo Dog is a member of the Spitz family. In America, in the 19th century, small, white Spitz-type dogs were found in communities of German immigrants. These dogs are where the Toy American Eskimo Dog comes from.

It is believed that they descended from the European Spitzes including the white Keeshound, the white German Spitz, the white Pomeranian and the Volpino Italiano (also known as the white Italian Spitz).

American Eskimo Dog (Toy) Temperament
The American Eskimo is bright, eager to please, lively and fun-loving, in short, an enjoyable and generally obedient companion who love to entertain and join in on all family activities. True to his Spitz heritage, he is independent and tenacious and loves to run, especially in cold weather.

But he is among the most biddable of Spitz breeds, and is calm and well-mannered inside. He is good with children, other dogs, and pets and is generally outgoing to everyone but reserved with strangers.
