Since I was a little girl I've had fascination with SHARKS, and although I dont consider myself an expert in the subject; I think I know some curious facts that are ignored by many people ... That's why today, I decided to share it with you; so maybe you can see this species with a little more confidence, consideration and affection ... of course: WITHOUT LOSING RESPECT TO THEM😉.

Around this imposing and beautiful being, there are quite a lot of scary rumors, which we normally take for granted because that is what some people have made us believe all our lives through movies or "horror stories" ...
While it is true that being hand-to-hand with certain types of sharks can be dangerous (under certain circumstances), they are NOT MURDERS OF HUMANS BY NATURE ... and if you dont think so yet, ask yourself this: Who is "meddling" in the habitat of who? Have you ever seen a shark walking on the ground looking for a human being to kill it and then eat it?... NOPE✋.

SO... LETS START!🙋❱❱❱

SOME FACTS ABOUT SHARKS:

1) BODY LANGUAGE

In case of being near a shark, one thing that we must take into account, is its body language ... In the same way that happens with animals as domestic dogs (or any type of animal), sharks transmit or show signs clear when they are upset, uncomfortable or about to attack.

KEY BEHAVIORS: 😡😤😣
✅Exaggerated movements such a zig-zaggy swimming.
✅Quick turns.
✅Hunching the back.
✅Lowering pectoral fins.
✅Diving down and rubbing their belly against the bottom.

2) "ROOKIES IN THE WORLD"

Sharks have been swimming in the ocean two hundred million (200.000.000) years before the dinosaurs appeared😱. And have changed very little during that time...

3) DANGEROUS BITES

Only taking into account the annual statistics of New York, it is known that the citizens of that city, bite people 10 times more than do sharks worldwide 🌏.

4) COCONUTS VS HUMANS

According to NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) you are more likely to die because a coconut falling on your head, than from a SHARK ATTACK.🙇

5) FASTER THAN A PORSHE

A shark can accelerate faster than a porsche, and can reach speeds of over 124 Km per hour (specifically the SHORTFIN MAKO shark)💨

6) VIVIPAROUS, OVIPAROUS ALSO OVOVIVIPAROUS.

Well, sharks can reproduce in three ways, according to their species.

1) Viviparous reproduction:
The shark embryo develops and feeds in the placenta of its mother (the gestation can last from 6 to 24 months).

2) Oviparous reproduction:
The embryo feeds and gestates, inside an egg that the mother expels and incubates in the marine environment.

BUT WAIT!!
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW A SHARK'S EGG LOOKS LIKE?
HERE IS THE INTERESTING THING; A shark egg is nothing like an egg of any animal you've seen before...
In fact, by their shape, they are known as "DEVIL PURSE or MERMAID'S PURSE"

3) Ovoviviparous reproduction:
The babies are gestated in eggs that remain inside the mother, until they hatch, and once this happens, the mother gives birth to the little sharks, fully formed.

In the next post, I will be talking about other curious facts, and also about the species of sharks and attacks that exist in my country.
