Windy and Not Warm

in #natureyesterday (edited)

This video is not the theme song for this weather.

The last couple days have been weird. Yesterday, temperatures rose a bit above freezing, and big white snowflakes drifted down in a gentle breeze. There was some accumulation, but it was wet snow and slush made even worse with a shift to rain later in the day.

Then, the wind picked up and gusted heavily through the night. Lights flickered, but power never went out entirely here. The noise was not exactly on the level of midwestern storms, but it was significant.

Today, the aftermath was the ground littered with branches, there is no lingering snow anywhere, and some trees are down. One shattered halfway up the trunk, and another was ripped out of the ground.

There were also trees fallen across roads, and I have a small folding saw in the Friend-Shaped Car for situations like that. Some people even carry chainsaws.

Now the forecast is more rain and snow. Yay. The weather fronts moving through have not been good for my old back injuries.

Loved the tune. Really loved it. Don't walk under trees in the wind X X 🌬️🍃🍃🍃 💨

Doc Watson was one of the greats in the American folk music revival of the 60s & 70s, and he carried on for years after. He was on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's Will the Circle be Unbroken album, just for one example.

That's some wind! D:

Most of the trees survived, but these occasional storms cull the weak.
